Rachael Grealish July 30, 2022

If there’s one thing TikTok is great for, it’s starting a new viral trend – the latest is the ‘colour party’ and we’ve got it explained and some great examples.

The video-sharing app has made trends out of songs, dances, water bottles and even instant noodles, but now it’s all about the colour party and sharing yours with the world.

Colour Party TikTok

The latest craze is pretty simple, people throw a party with a colour theme so everyone picks a colour, dresses in that specific colour clothes and people also bring snacks and/or drinks matching the colour too.

So a person who picks orange would dress in orange clothes, bring orange juice or orange soda and oranges or Reese’s Pieces, for example, and so on. Some attendees even get wigs to match their colour.

People then walk, or dance, up to the camera at the party dressed up, with snacks in hand, and show off their true colours.

Most people seem to be picking the colours of the rainbow and some have even hosted parties with a Pride and colour theme to show support to the LGBTQ+ community.

Besides that, the colour parties don’t seem to have any other specific meaning except to have fun and be colourful – or not, some people have gone for colour parties where everyone wears the same colour or tone, like black or white.

The trend has been such a hit that videos with the hashtag ‘color party‘ have had over 48 million views, collectively, on TikTok. Some users have also inspired others by tagging their videos with the phrase “This is your sign to do it”.
