Thw 74th Emmy Award has honoured some of the best shows and stars TV has an offer, but did Cobra Kai get an Emmy at this year’s awards?
One show up for an award this year was none other than the Karate Kid spin-off series Cobra Kai set a good 30-plus years after the original movie, but features many of the OG cast members.
Netflix’s Cobra Kai Season 5
Originally the show premiered on YouTube Red in 2018 but later moved to Netflix. The series was so successful it’s made it to a fifth series that just premiered on September 9.
Following the first movie events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with the continuation of the inescapable conflict between Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) is still going into the Generation Z era – they’ve even got there kids involved.
Season 3 saw the return of John Kreese, who Johnny and Daniel had to work together to try and bring down, then in season 4 the unhinged Terry Siver returned and season 5 is dealing with all the aftermath of that.
Following the shocking results of the All Valley Tournament, Season 5 finds Terry Silver expanding the Cobra Kai empire and trying to make his “No Mercy” style of karate the only game in town. With Kreese behind bars and Johnny Lawrence setting karate aside to focus on repairing the damage he’s caused, Daniel LaRusso must call on an old friend for help.

Fans old and new have more than got on board with the show – five seasons doesn’t lie – and, of course that means when award season came about it wasn’t going to be missed in the nominations.
