Stranger Things producers, the Duffer Brothers, have said will have episodes like ‘movies’ and a finale over two hours long.
In an interview with The Wrap, the pair opened up about the highly-anticipated upcoming series which is due to drop on Netflix on May 27, for volume one and July 1 for volume two.
Feature Length Episodes
During the interview, the brothers explained there will be several episodes like ‘movies’ and the final episode will be ‘over two hours long’.
Matt Duffer: ‘Seven and nine, in particular, are movies. And nine is a long movie.”
After this, when his brother Ross was asked exactly how long they’ll be he said: ‘We’re still refining it but we will say that it is over two hours. It’s a big one.’

Matt explained the reasoning behind the long episodes was to make sure they could give fans as many answers as they possibly could within the time they had.
‘The more we were writing, the more we realized we need more time in order for these reveals to land, in order for these storylines to work,’ Matt explained. ‘Partway through we knew we needed to ask Netflix for nine episodes instead of eight and as we started shooting we realized, Oh these are mega-long episodes.’
Season 4 will have ‘answers’
Of course, the pair are keeping things tightly under wraps when it comes to plot details, but Millie Bobby Brown did previously confirm in an interview this season would give answers fans have been desperately wanting for the almost three years they’ve been waiting in between seasons.
During a sit-down on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the 18-year-old British actor confirmed her character, Eleven, would be explained more in the season.
She said: ‘Definitely lots of answers — lots of crying, lots of laughing.’
Brown had previously said this season is the ‘beginning of the end’. ‘The main part, and the slogan of this storyline, is it’s the beginning of the end,’ she said.
‘We really have to dig deep into [Eleven’s] beginning and how she became who she is with the people around her, and how to gain that autonomy and become this woman on her own. So this storyline this season really digs into that.’
