Coachella weekend two kicked off on Friday, and fans that missed out on last week finally had the chance to catch up.
The desert festival had many surprises up its sleeve for festival goers on Friday. Here is what went down on the first day of weekend two.
Baby Keem
Baby Keem performed in the Sahara Tent for his 12 song-set. The rapper performed hits such as ‘ORANGE SODA’ and ‘HONEST’.
Rapper Kendrick Lamar made a surprise towards the end of Keem’s set, to perform the duo’s collaboration ‘Family Ties’, as well as Keem’s song ‘Vent’. Lamar’s appearance at Coachella comes shortly after his album announcement. His highly anticipated fifth studio album Mr. Morale and the Big Steppers is out 13 May.
Harry Styles
After headlining weekend one with special guest Shania Twain, Harry Styles returned – but this time with help from superstar Lizzo. The pair sang Gloria Gaynor’s smash hit ‘I Will Survive’ and One Direction’s infamous ‘What Makes You Beautiful’. Harry wore an extravagant pink faux fur coat, as Lizzo sported a similar orange number whilst they performed together.
Fans suspected Lizzo may be Harry’s musical guest. This came after Lizzo posted a TikTok with the caption ‘I’m bored otw to Coachella 😛’. The pair are known to be close friends, with their friendship dating back to 2020 after Harry covered Lizzo’s ‘Juice’ in BBC’s Live Lounge. The duo are both releasing new albums this year. Harry’s House is out 20 May whilst Special is out 15 July.

Anitta
Unlike weekend one, where the superstar brought out Snoop Dogg, Saweetie and Diplo, this week Anitta performed solo. Fans turned up in full force to watch Anitta put on a show which involved three neon outfit changes, non stop choreography and a kiss with her back-up dancer.
Anitta recently revealed in an interview with Zane Lowe, that her Coachella set was designed by a Disney engineer. ‘Six months ago, I was in Disney World with my mom. My favourite park is Animal Kingdom, and I was like, “Oh my God, I just love how we feel immersed in this. We just feel the magic and we feel like we are part of each movie or each ride.” So, I got home and I started to watch this documentary of the behind-the-scenes, how they build the parks, and I said, “Okay, I want this guy.” His name is Joe. He was explaining how he brought the environment of Avatar, the movie, to the Pandora Park in the park. I was like, okay, I need this guy to tell me how can I bring the favela to the stage’ she shared.

City Girls
The rap duo consisting of JT and Yung Mami played the Sahara Stage on Friday. Their 7 song-set consisted of fan favourites such as ‘P**** Talk’ and ‘Where The Bag At’. The duo put on a performance in matching pink and green outfits, surrounded by a sea back up dancers dressed in green.

Who is performing on Saturday?
The likes of Conan Gray, Disclosure, Rina Sawayama, Pabllo Vittar, Girl In Red, 100 Gecs, 21 Savage and Steve Lacy are all performing on Saturday. Billie Eilish is headlining, and there may also be plenty of surprise guests throughout the day.
