Everyone’s favourite baking show is back! That’s right, The Great British Bake Off returns for 2022 with some fresh faces entering the famous tent. With meringue mishaps and bread bedlam guaranteed, here’s everything we know about the latest series.
September is a time for many new things. A new school year, a new season has begun, and a new batch of baking hopefuls are entering the tent. Oh yes, The Great British Bake Off is back on our screens and it couldn’t be more exciting. But what can we expect from the latest series?
Who will be hosting?
Noel Fielding and Matt Lucas are returning for another year of baking madness. The duo have proved that even the great Mel and Sue could be equalled in hosting fun. With their quick quips, comforting words, and the help of Mr Spoon, we’re definitely glad to have them back. The pair confirmed their return on Instagram, with the caption ‘In knead of some good news?’. If the puns continue like that, we’re in for some serious eye-rolling.
Who Will be judging Bake Off 2022?
The Instagram post also confirmed that Paul and Prue will be returning for another year. Paul, who has never missed a series, has a longer expiry than the flour at the back of the cupboard! Of course, it wouldn’t be the same without his familiar face and famous handshake.
Prue Preith and her notorious colourful outfits can’t be missed in the selfie either. Although replacing Mary was a great feat no one thought could be achieved, the nation has come to love her. Hopefully, she’ll be able to keep this year’s winner under wraps, after accidentally revealing it early on her first year as a judge! Whoops!
And the contestants are…
Only yesterday Bake Off confirmed who would be participating in the latest series with an introductory video on Instagram.
The ‘class of 2022’ already look like a close bunch as they are set to take on the tent together. Ranging from 18-60, contestants this year come from across the globe, including Saudi Arabia, Sweden, Poland and Libya.
Included in this year’s series are a nuclear scientist, a music teacher, a PA and a supermarket cashier. All with their own skills to bring to the show, one of these will become Bake Off champion 2022.
