It has been four long years since we last saw the Big Brother house, but it’s back with a reboot! With fresh new concepts, hosts, houses and tasks, this is set to be a great reboot. If you have missed all this new information, here is everything you need to know about this upcoming series.
What Is Big Brother?
Big Brother is a reality TV show that sees ‘housemates’ put into an isolated home away from the outside world. The contestants are monitored by cameras and microphones, hence the show’s name, which originates from George Orwell’s novel Nineteen Eighty-Four.
Housemates are evicted from the house following a public vote. The last remaining contestant wins the show and, typically, a cash prize.
Big Brother hit our television screens in 2000, hosted by Davina McCall. In 2013, Emma Willis took over hosting duties until the show ended in 2018.
In 2001, after the show’s initial success, Celebrity Big Brother was created. This has the exact same formula, with the addition of celebrity housemates instead of the public.
Who Is Hosting The New Big Brother?
It was revealed that neither McCall nor Willis will be returning as hosts of the new show. Instead, it has been announced that there will be two hosts for the first time.
One of the new hosts is AJ Odudu. She has presented shows such as Married At First Sight: Afters, The Big Breakfast and even Big Brother’s Bit On The Side.
Alongside Odudu will be Will Best. He is no stranger to co-presenting, having done so on Suck My Pop with Kimberley Walsh and Dance Dance Dance with Alesha Dixon.
Talking about her new co-hosting position, Odudu says “I couldn’t be happier. Following in the footsteps of some of my favourite broadcasting legends to front such an iconic show is an absolute honour – and to do it alongside my amazing friend Will is the icing on the cake.”
Best adds, “I grew up with Big Brother so getting a chance to host it with my mate AJ is a dream come true. I can’t wait to tell some housemates not to swear.”
Do We Know When The Big Brother Reboot Will Air?
