Our Favourite Big Brother Moments As The Show Makes A Return

Molly Raby July 1, 2022

Big Brother was one of the most popular shows of the early noughties. It saw some of the biggest and best bust-ups between celebrities and the general public alike.

Big Brother began in 2000 on Channel 4 and became an immediate success. It ran until 2018 when it was cancelled. However, in April 2022, The Sun reported that the hit show is set to return in 2023 on ITV.

So, to celebrate, here are some of the most iconic moments to come from past series.

Gemma Collins

There are genuinely too many iconic moments from when the GC was inside the Big Brother house. From her disputes with Tiffany ‘New York’ Pollard, to her iconic declaration of claustrophobia to Darren Day, how can we pick just one?

If you want a great few minutes of chaos, find a compilation of Gemma in the house. You won’t regret it.

One of Gemma’s most viral moments came during a house task, where she told Gillian McKeith to ‘f**k off’.

Battle of the soap stars

In 2012, we saw Coronation Street’s Julie Goodyear and EastEnders’ Cheryl Fergison argue it out on the very first day. Unbeknownst to the other housemates, this was a fake argument created as an initial task, but with Goodyear throwing her drink over Fergison, they could’ve fooled anyone.

Alison Hammond breaks a table

Many may not know this, but This Morning‘s Alison Hammond made her TV debut on Big Brother back in 2002.

One of her best moments came as she and another contestant stood on a table whilst trying to spot security guards. After a little jump to see over the gate, there was a crack and Alison realised that she had broken the table.

After telling big Brother what she had done, classic Alison replied with ‘I can probably bend it back’.

Courtney Act’s entrance

When on live TV, anything can happen. A verbal slip up, getting caught picking your nose, but the worse ones usually come from a wardrobe malfunction.

In 2018, drag queen Courtney Act walked, well, stumbled, onto the show. Her floor-length sequence dress got caught as she walked down the steps and was ripped off her body, revealing everything underneath.

Despite this awkward entrance, Courtney went on to win the show, with 49% of the public votes.

Roxanne Pallett cries wolf

In 2018, Emmerdale’s Roxanne Pallett almost cost Coronation Street star, Ryan Thomas, his career and his reputation. She accused him of assaulting her whilst in the house and after a he-said-she-said debate, it transpired that the moment was caught on camera and she had lied.

After the show received over 11,000 complaints, Roxanne left the house the next day and was questioned by presenter Emma Willis.
