November is a strange month. Stuck between two major holidays it’s hard to figure out how to occupy your time. Most films on TV are repeats of Halloween are early Christmas films. So even browsing through channels doesn’t give you much inspiration. 

Well if you’re sick of feeling in limbo, here are five films you can watch between Halloween and Christmas; giving you the best of both worlds for the buildup to December. So, jump onto Netflix and get watching.

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

This stop-motion musical dark fantasy is an obvious choice to watch between holidays. Henry Selick and Tim Burton produced an enchanting classic perfect for this time of year. If you’re still not over Halloween, you definitely need to watch.

Mean Girls (2004)

Who doesn’t want an excuse to watch mean girls again? Tina Fey’s masterpiece spans across seasons, including iconic scenes from both Christmas and Halloween. It’s a perfect comfort film and you can practice the ‘Jingle Bell Rock’ performance for family festivities.

Gremlins (1984)

While Gremlins is set during Christmas, these chaotic creepy creatures add a Halloween feel. It’s a nostalgic Christmas horror film which everyone loves after rewatching.

Edward Scissorhands (1990)

It’s safe to say Tim Burton is a master of the festive Halloween genre. It centres around Christmas and creates a cosy festive feel throughout. One of the most memorable Christmas moments comes when Winona Ryder’s character Kim finds Edward making an ice sculpture. The beautiful sprinkle of ‘snow’ parallels a winter wonderland. This combined with dark fantasy elements and a true Tim Burton style aesthetic makes it a perfect Halloween-Christmas film.

The Addams Family (1991)

While the Addams family has a very loose connection to Christmas, it’s a delightfully dark comedy to enjoy during the festivities. Seeing the dysfunctional bunch may help you prepare for your own family Christmas.
