Taylor Swift is an extremely talented an impressive individual but why is she always a media target? She has been a celebrity since the young age of 17 and she has faced adversity and even bullying by the media.
This would have an effect on anybody, let alone someone who had just broke into the industry in a truly toxic environment.
Due to her documentary, Miss Americana, airing on Netflix in 2020, people got to see just how unfairly Taylor Swift has been treated throughout her career.
The media constantly picks apart her image, her weight, her fashion, her dating life, and any choice that she seems to make. Some in the press wait to find their perfect opportunity to continuously berate the musician’s impressive accomplishments.
However, this does not stop Taylor from continuing to move forward in her professional field.

She continuously fights to highlight the abuse that she encounters and wants others to know that, if they are going through it, they are not alone.
Taylor Swift fights for equality and has even spoken out politically following the 2016 U.S. presidential elections, voicing her support for all, no matter where you are from or who you choose to be.
Taylor Swift continues to smash records
Taylor Swift released her long-awaited album, Midnights, on 21 October 2022.
The album has been praised for its song writing and high production values.
The release of Midnights broke even more records for Taylor as she was the first singer in history to claim all top ten spots on the Billboard Hot 100.
This goes to show the huge amount of talent and support that Swift has, as her fanbase continue to support her as they grow to enormous levels.
Why the backlash?
Even after all of her awareness on the damaging impact the media can have on someone’s mental health and how they view themselves, the media still hugely target this talented artist. It is baffling as to why Taylor Swift is such a target.
People now believe that this is solely due to gaining traction for the articles and media organisations that produce such work.
Taylor herself seems to be a fighter against injustice and speaks out about equality and accepting people for who they really are.
This means that there is no real reason to target Taylor other than the worth of her name and the number of clicks it can receive.
Why is she a target? Because some people will always go after successful people and, unfortunately, being a woman in the music industry still leads to misogyny and, let’s face it, jealousy.
