Once Taylor Swift announced that she was going back on the road, some fans were quick to wonder: Who are the support acts on The Eras Tour?
In August this year, the Internet broke following a new album announcement Taylor Swift made after winning the Video of the Year award at the VMAs. As she accepted the award for her 10-minute version of All Too Well, Taylor shared that her new album, Midnights, was to be released on October 21. The album broke records and has proved to be her most commercially successful project to date, but the Swifities were speculating an accompanying tour.
Live on Good Morning America it was made official, Taylor is returning to the stage. Starting on March 18 2023, Taylor Swift is due to begin The Eras Tour in Glendale, Arizona with international dates to soon be announced. Along with tour dates she also revealed a plethora of artists that are due to join her. So, who are the support acts on The Eras Tour?
Which Artists Will Support Taylor Swift?
Paramore
Formed in 2004, Paramore have made themselves a household name among rock, punk and 2000s emo fans, with lead vocalist Hayley Williams since releasing solo music. Just after announcing their new album This Is Why (due to be released February 10 next year) they have also confirmed a tour beginning in March. Among the craziness of releasing a new project and touring, Paramore have still managed to squeeze in a guest appearance on Taylor’s tour. The band are confirmed to be playing the tour’s opening night in Glendale, Arizona.
beabadoobee
Rising to fame through her popular songs death bed and The Perfect Pair on TikTok, it comes as no surprise that the demand for beabadoobee has sky-rocketed. Her popularity through social media has branded her a one-to-watch in music with her eclectic bedroom pop approach. She will be joining The Eras Tour for seven consecutive shows starting in Las Vegas and finishing in Atlanta.
Phoebe Bridgers
When Taylor announced her tour acts, it was Phoebe Bridgers that fans seemed the most thrilled about, as her name alone shot to the top of Twitter’s trending ranks. Opening the tour for another seven nights after beabadoobee, Bridgers has made a name for herself since her 2017 debut album Stranger in the Alps.
girl in red
Norwegian singer-songwriter girl in red has a small back catalogue of projects but that hasn’t stopped her from becoming an icon within the queer community. Accumulating a following of indie pop lovers, her growing fan base has led her to receiving the award for BBC Sound of 2021, and even a GLAAD Media Award for Outstanding Breakthrough Music Artist.
MUNA
For the Missouri, Ohio and Colorado dates of The Eras Tour, pop band MUNA are set to join. Over the course of their career, MUNA have continuously influenced the trajectory of alternative indie pop. Having collaborated with fellow artist Phoebe Bridgers in the past, the band’s guest spot on Taylor’s tour makes perfect sense.
HAIM
A band of sisters Alana, Este and Danielle Haim, the indie rock trio have previously collaborated with Taylor Swift on the album evermore, featuring on the track no body, no crime. HAIM have certainly proved themselves as besties with Taylor, making an appearance in the recent music video for Bejeweled. The final four stops of the US leg of the tour will see HAIM take to the stage to support.
GAYLE
Much like beabadoobee, singer GAYLE’s success came to fruition when her hit song abcdefu reached number one in the UK charts. At just 18, GAYLE is making her way towards a big career, securing a total of nine dates on The Eras Tour.
Gracie Abrams
With a total of twelve appearances at The Eras Tour, Gracie Abrams takes up the most dates out of all of Taylor’s opening acts. The daughter of J.J Abrams and Katie McGrath, Gracie Abrams is a young artist with pop influences and a mellow edge who has developed her own style and artistic output.
OWENN
Freshly merging onto the scene, artist OWENN has gained recognition with his song Baby Girl as well as working with Taylor previously as a tour dancer and music video actor. Although he is rather new to music, only having two songs released so far, his upbeat tempo paired with his soulful vocal approach are the reasons why Taylor Swift has picked him for support.
A ticket sales date for Taylor Swift’s The Eras Tour has not yet been announced. International tour dates are being announced soon.
