There’s nothing like coming across a great video on your Instagram feed. Perhaps it’s a comedy sketch that tickles your funny bone, an adorable animal, or a life-changing life hack. Whatever the subject may be, a truly great video warrants sharing. However, there are a number of barriers that can get in the way. For example, if the person you want to send it to doesn’t have Instagram, you won’t be able to share it with them via DMs. Instead, sometimes the best option is to download the video. Not only can you then share it more widely, but you will also have it saved to your device, making it easy to find if you want to watch it again later. So, here is how to download Instagram reels.

What Are Reels?
Reels were first introduced to Instagram in August of 2020. Reels are a feed of short-form videos you can scroll through on the app, much like TikTok. These videos range from every topic imaginable: any interest you may have can probably be found in the form of a reel. However, the Instagram algorithm varies significantly from the TikTok algorithm. While the TikTok algorithm changes the feed in response to how the user engages with the videos, Instagram’s algorithm is more focused on who the user is following.
How To Download Instagram Reels
There are a number of ways you can download your own Instagram Reels onto your phone, and luckily they are all pretty quick and simple to do. One method is to open the app and go to your account. Underneath your bio are 5 tabs. Select the Reels tab, which is second from the left and marked with the clapperboard containing a small triangle. Then, choose the reel you would like to save and tap it. From there, select the three dots in the upper right corner and open up the menu. Then, choose “Save to Camera Roll.”
However, if you want to download a reel created by someone else, you will need to do so by screen recording. Open up your screen recorder app and select start. Then, go back to Instagram and find the reel you want to record. Once the reel has played through, head back to the screen recorder, stop the recording, and then edit out any portion of the video you don’t want.
