The university year is finally over and for those who are graduating, it means the end of those special student savings…or so you thought. Have a look at our handy tips to extend your student discount to make it last longer.
You may be pretty thankful that your time at university is over, but you’ll sure miss those student discounts. That is, of course, if you don’t follow our advice for making it last longer.
There’s no need to pay full price for everything just yet when you can get your deals to last you at least another year. And you don’t need to commit to another year of education either.
How?! We hear you cry, and we’re going to tell you.
How To Extend Your Student Discount
Get ready to save even more money despite not being a student. Just don’t go around shouting about it…
- Renew Your UNiDays
Okay, so for this to work you need to already have an UNiDays account, which we seriously recommend anyway. If you do, then you’ll know that you need to renew it year by year by verifying your student email address.
Well, lots of email addresses don’t remove student email addresses until the start of the next academic year. Your university will more than likely inform you of when this will happen as well.
So, as long as you re-verify your student status before the email is removed, then it will last for another year!

- Graduate Discounts
As a recent graduate, you can still get lots of discounts. In fact, some of them last up to five years after you finish university.
You can do this through UNiDays or Student Beans by simply creating an account or logging in through your student one Simply prove that you completed a course of over 12 months and that you graduated within the last five years and you’ll still get access to plenty of savings.
- Alumni Extras
Though this one will cost you £20 a year, you can save on everyday items such as Tesco, Sainsburys and Asda. There are lots of other partnerships on there as well, including Starbucks, Alton Towers and more. You can definitely make your £20 with either your shopping or days out.
Just create an account as a graduate, pay and you’ll have access to all these savings!
- Sign Up To Loyalty And Reward Cards
These aren’t exactly the same, but they’ll still save you some money. Get loyalty cards at the supermarket you shop at, where you get your cosmetics and even clothes shops.
You can even save on meals out with a Tastecard. After paying a certain amount upfront or monthly, you can save a third at lots of restaurants around the country.
This doesn’t exactly extend your student discount, but it does mean you can carry on saving! Lots of places offer different reward schemes, so it’s always worth enquiring about if it will help you in the long run.
