Add as preferred source on Google

After a long day of studying, sometimes all you need is to chill in front of the TV with some feel-good shows. With all the shows you can think of now on streaming services, we look at how you can save some money in your downtime. Here are the streaming sites with student discounts, including Paramount + and Amazon Prime.

Sure, we all like going out with our friends and, unfortunately, there’s often university work to catch up on too. However, when you do have free time, doing something mindless and by yourself can be just the ticket. It’s even better if you can save some money at the same time too.

Lots of people use their parents’ accounts to get it for free, but that’s not an option for some. Consider getting one of the following plans with your flatmates! That way, you can all enjoy your favourite shows, either together or separately and save each of you a bit of cash.

The Streaming Sites With Student Discounts

Whether you’re in the US or the UK, the following services have a student discount you should make the most of.

With all of these, you’ll have a wide range of shows available to you. Now you probably won’t want to purchase a subscription to all of them, but at least you know you have options.

Does Netflix Have A Student Discount?

No, Netflix does not have a student discount. It’s one of the most popular streaming services, but it currently only offers three types of plans. For the time being, you’ll have to hope a family member will let you use theirs, but only until Netflix stop password sharing.

When the inevitable happens, you may decide that you get an account where all your flatmates chip in. Depending on what you want, you’ll either pay £6.99/£10.99/£14.99. There is also an even cheaper version which is £4.99, but you’ll have to put up with adverts. Bear in mind that the two cheapest plans will only let you use it on one device at a time, so you’ll have to share.

The Paramount+ Student Discount

Now available for students in the UK too, Paramount+ does offer a student discount so you can enjoy your favourite TV shows and films for less.

Making its own original shows, whilst also having some classics and latest films too, it’s a great option for a wide range of content.

Once you’ve verified your student status, you can get 25 per cent off the monthly fee. This means the £6.99, or $4.99 in the US, that you pay goes down to around £5.25 and $3.75. To get it, you just have to prove you’re a student through SheerID, but you’ll also get a 7-day free trial thrown in too.

Amazon Prime Offers A Student Discount

Not only does Amazon Prime give you access to their streaming services, but you get that all-in-important prime delivery thrown in too. As a student, the need to get some essentials quickly happens more often than it should.

The streaming service student discount means you’ll pay £4.99/$7.49 a month, but UK students will also get the following as well:

Plus, there are exclusive student discounts on offer as Amazon had some helpful brand partnerships too.

What’s even better, is that you get a 6-month free trial as well!

Hulu, YouTube, Apple TV+ And More

The above aren’t the only streaming services with student discounts, so we’ll give you a quick rundown of the others on offer. Some of these aren’t available in the UK, but we’ve thrown them in any way.

YouTube Premium becomes £6.99 for students per month and you get a free week trial too.

This streaming service student discount means you can get the solo plan for an amazing $1.99 a month, however, you will have to put up with some adverts.

By signing up for Apple TV+, you also get Apple Music thrown in for only $5.99/£5.99 a month. Plus, you get a month free trial for both!

Through UNiDAYs, students can get 15 per cent off a 12-month plan, meaning you only pay for 10 months of Disney+ instead of the whole year.

Now you know all your options, it’s just a matter of deciding which streaming services you absolutely need, and which ones you’ll scavenge off somebody else!
