Freshers week is one of the most fun, exciting and nerve-wracking weeks you’ll have during your first year at university. Your nights might be occupied with clubbing, going out for dinner and visiting new friends’ flats. But what are you going to do throughout the day? If you’re nursing a hangover, perhaps staying in bed. Aside from that, you might find yourself with lots of free time in the day. If you don’t know how to spend it, here are some ideas.
Explore Your Campus
If you haven’t already, why not have a wander round your campus? If you’ve only ever seen it on an open day, take the time to have a look when it’s up and running. The chances are there will be so many rooms or buildings you haven’t had a look through. So many, in fact, it may take you a whole day! This will definitely keep you busy.
You could invite a flatmate along, or a coursemate. It will give you a chance to bond while walking around your new home. It will also give you a chance to find out where your lectures are.

Explore Your City
If you’ve moved to a new city, explore it. One of the best ways to keep busy is by having a day out. If you’re looking to save money, you don’t even have to buy anything. You could take a walk into your city centre and have a wander. No transport fees whatsoever!
It’s great to get to know your new home. Finding new shops, places to eat or bars can be a great way to bond with new friends. It will keep everyone busy.
Go to University Freshers Events to Keep Busy
You might be planning on skipping the welcome fairs during your freshers week. Even if you don’t find them entirely useful, they are another way to keep busy! They’re a chance to see what you can get up to at university and meet new people in the process.
Do What Feels Right
Perhaps you don’t feel the need to get out of your flat every day. That’s okay! The most important thing during Freshers Week is to stay relaxed and not overwhelmed. If you prefer to keep busy by watching something or reading, then do that.
