Some Instagram users have been surprised to find out that posts and stories they shared on Instagram were also shared on their Facebook account. When accounts are linked, a post can be replicated from one social media platform to another. This can be helpful for those who post often across several platforms, since it saves them the trouble of posting on each channel separately. However, some users want to post to just one channel. So here is how you can prevent this mix-up from happening and stop Instagram from sharing your posts on Facebook.

Unlink Your Accounts
One simple way to stop Instagram from sharing posts to Facebook is to unlink your accounts. To do this, open up the Instagram app and go to your profile by tapping the icon on the bottom right. Then, tap the three lines in the upper right hand corner to open up the menu. Then, scroll down until you find the Accounts Center. Choose the account you wish to unlink and tap the remove button.

You can also unlink your accounts from the Facebook app. To do so, log onto the app and open up the menu. Tap the settings gear, then scroll down until you find the Accounts Center. From there, select the account you want to unlink and tap Remove. You will receive a confirmation message, and if your accounts share a password you will then be prompted to change it.
Turn Off Sharing
You can also toggle off sharing through Instagram’s settings without unlinking your accounts. This is helpful if you still want to use your Facebook login to sign into Instagram, rather than having two separate passwords. To do this, open up the app and go to your profile. Then, select the three lines in the upper right corner to open up settings. Scroll to your Accounts Center and select the Sharing Across Profiles option. From there, you can choose to toggle off sharing on your Instagram posts, stories, or both.
Alternatively, you can pick and choose what you want to share on Facebook with each individual post or story. After you’ve added any filters you want, you can then choose to turn off sharing below your tagged accounts, location and music choice for the post. This is a great option if you want to share some posts to Facebook but not others.
