Top Boy season 2 is released this week but, if you are new to the show, you need to know something to ensure the perfect viewing experience. Season 2 is, in fact, season 4. Confused? We don’t blame you. But it’s actually pretty simple.
While the latest season of Top Boy is branded as season 2 by Netflix, viewers should in fact think of it as the fourth installment. If you do that, you have four brilliant seasons to watch and everything will make a lot more sense.
Seasons 1 and 2
Top Boy started on Channel 4 back in 2011, with the second season airing two years later. Despite gaining a passionate following and critical acclaim, the show was cancelled.
Those two seasons are now known as Top Boy: Summerhouse, which explains the confusion over just how many episodes there are.

Top Boy Seasons 3 and 4
Drake swooped in like a televisual superhero to save the show, bringing it to a whole new audience with a revamped ‘season one’ in 2017.
That ‘season one’ – which is actually the third season of the show – aired on Netflix in 2019 and now – finally – ‘season two’ has arrived.
You can watch Top Boy season’s one and two (as they are now known) without watching Summerhouse. But you really shouldn’t.
If you jump right into Netflix’s season one, you will lose so much of the character dynamics that make the latter episodes so thrilling.
The first two years of Top Boy are outstanding and set up everything that follows.

Go to Netflix and watch Top Boy: Summerhouse seasons 1 and 2. Then move to Top Boy seasons 1 and 2. If you do that, you are in for one hell of a ride. You can thank us later.
