Jordan Peele’s latest movie Nope is soaring at the box office, but how does the success of his latest directorial hit add to his already amassed net worth?
Although Nope doesn’t hit UK cinemas until August 12, the movie has been enjoyed by the US audience since its premiere on July 22 and has raked in over $80 million at the US domestic box office.

The movie follows the story of two siblings, living on a ranch in California, who attempt to capture evidence of an unidentified flying object (UFO). However, the aliens don’t seem to take kindly to that idea.
The movie is the third directorial move by Peele, who previously had success with his horrors, Get Out and Us, and he’s reunited with British actor Daniel Kaluuya who’d team up with the director for the first time since the Academy Award-winning film Get Out, which also saw the 33-year-old Londoner nominated for the Best Actor Oscar.
Alongside him will be Keke Palmer (Hustlers, Big Mouth) as Jill Haywood, Steven Yeun (The Walking Dead) as Brian and Michael Wincott (Hitchcock) as Craig.
Jordan Peele’s rise to fame
Peele may now be known for his exciting award-winning horrors today, but the writer and director started his career in comedy.
The New York-born actor and comedian began his career in the early 2000’s began performing improv with Boom Chicago and Second City in Chicago.
During these years he also hosted MTV’s Comedy Weekend. In 2003, he was cast on the successful sketch comedy series, MADTv, where he first began working with Keegan-Michael Key.
After years of being friends and working together in 2012 Key and Peele began appearing in their own show, aptly named Key and Peele, which aired Comedy Central. Key and Peele aired 53 episodes over five seasons until the series ended in 2015. The show won two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Peabody Award.
Two years late Peele would make his directorial debut with Get Out in 2017. Peele wrote and produced the movie which was made on a $4.5 million budget. The film was an instant success and Jordan became the first black writer-director to earn more than $100 million at the box office with a debut feature.
Peele then went on to write, direct and produce the 2019 movie US, which went on to earn $255 million on a budget of $20 million.
