At first glance, Entergalactic looks like an animated music video. However, as you delve deeper, you find that it is a kind of feature film or TV special.
Whatever this piece is categorised as, it has been widely well-received and is already a standout on Netflix’s platform.
Who Is Kid Cudi?
Scott Mescudi, known professionally as Kid Cudi, is an American singer, rapper, songwriter and actor. He works primarily on hip hop and alternative music and was signed to Kanye West’s label GOOD Music in 2008, after his debut album caught West’s attention.
In 2009, Cudi released Man on the Moon: The End of Day which is now a double platinum album. Out of five nominations, Cudi has two Grammy Awards.
Cudi has appeared on shows such as One Tree Hill, Maniac, The Cleveland Show and Need for Speed.

What Is Entergalactic?
Entergalactic is an animated feature that is divided into chapters by Kid Cudi’s new album of the same name.
We follow Jabari, an artist on the edge of a real success story. After a random run-in with his new neighbour, Meadow, Jabari has to make some difficult choices. Does he have the time and space to be dating someone right now? But, can he let something so great just fizzle out?
Entergalactic is animated by DNEG Animation, who created a 3D map of New York for the feature. The animation has been likened to that of the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
There is quite the A-list cast in this feature, with Kid Cudi voicing Jabari, Timothée Chalamet as his best friend, Jimmy and Jessica Williams voicing Meadow.
Other cast members are Tyrone Griffin Jr., Laura Harrier, Vanessa Hudgens and Christopher Abbott.
Reviews of Entergalactic
Chase Hutchinson for Collider labels the feature as a ‘rare gem of animated work for adults.’ He adds, ‘What could have easily just been a way to promote an album becomes a work of art all on its own.’
Cristina Escobar awards the film 3.5 stars calling the animation ‘stunning, presenting a mix of comic book and street art aesthetics.’ She writes that as a piece of art, Entergalactic is ‘evocative, beautiful and smart.’
The film currently has a strong 95% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
