Lord of the Rings: Rings of Power is almost here and that means a whole host of new characters, including Bronwyn, the healer, played by Nazanin Bonaidi.

The new show is a prequel to the original movies, set even before the events of the Hobbit, and it’s going to premiere on Prime Video tomorrow, September 2.

Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power

This epic drama is set thousands of years before the events of J.R.R. Tolkien’s notable works and will take viewers back to an era in which great powers were forged, kingdoms rose to glory and fell to ruin, unlikely heroes were tested, hope hung by the finest of threads, and the greatest villain that ever flowed from Tolkien’s pen threatened to cover all the world in darkness.

Beginning in a time of relative peace, the series follows an ensemble cast of characters, both familiar and new, as they confront the long-feared re-emergence of evil to Middle-earth.

From the darkest depths of the Misty Mountains, to the majestic forests of the elf-capital of Lindon, to the breathtaking island kingdom of Númenor, to the furthest reaches of the map, these kingdoms and characters will carve out legacies that live on long after they are gone.

There will be some familiar faces as Galadriel will feature in the series, just as a much younger elf.

Bronwyn in Lord Of The Rings

Another character fans will become accustomed to is Bronwyn, she’s a character created just for the highly-anticipated new show – so doesn’t feature in any of Tolkien’s previous works.

In the show, she plays a woman healer from the village of Tirharad who lives with her son Theo. At some point, she catches the eye of the Silvan Elf, Arondir, played by Ismael Cruz Córdova, and they’re said to fall in love.

She’s portrayed by the actor Nazanin Boniadi, who isn’t new to the scene at all – the 42-year-old has a pretty impressive portfolio behind her.

The Iranian-born actor made her debut on the long-running show General Hospital and it’s spin-off General Hospital: Night Shift. She also appeared in the show 24, before joining the cast of How I Met Your Mother.

More recently she played a villain in ABC’s Scandal and even appeared in the hit show Grey’s Anatomy.
