Walking around London you’re bound to find many different bookshops, but none that0 quite has the wonder and classic tales as Minalima.
As an English student, I do have quite a passion for freshly printed books; there’s nothing quite like holding a new book in your hand.
However, on my recent trip to London, I did not set out with the intention of entering any bookshops until my eyes met with the window display of the magical store that is Minalima.
Classic tales at Minalima
The front of Minalima’s shop had a variety of classical tales in the window, ones such as The Little Mermaid and The Jungle Book, ones that make any Literature fan feel at home.
However, there was a difference with these versions as opposed to any of the classics we are all used to – the front covers of these books were rather unique. Each was an illustrated, brightly coloured hardback which I later found out as I entered the shop were all created by the graphic designers Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima (hence the name Minalima.)

I couldn’t resist seeing more of the shop’s collection and begged my friend to come inside with me to see what they had to offer.
Minalima ‘the most magical bookshop’
What a little gem we had found. Inside we found what could only be described as the most magical bookshop ever to exist and that’s an understatement. Whilst only being a small shop, it housed all of the classics as well as having a vast Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts collection consisting of books, notebooks, posters and postcards. Whilst I’m not a huge fan of Harry Potter myself, the variety of wizard-worthy items was enough to make my inner Hermione Grainger come out.
After exploring the store for some time I settled on buying a beautifully designed version of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, one of my personal favourites. To my surprise, the inside of the book was even better and consisted of interactive pop-up features and even a pair of green glasses just like the Wizards! The book, priced at £25, would make an excellent addition to any book lover’s bookshelf no matter their age.
It is certain that the next time I am in London I will revisit the store but until then I will be sure to browse through all of their books online in the meantime.
