The movie Troll heading to Netflix in December is set to tap into Norwegian folklore for the huge fantasy flick where mountains move.
Any movie in the Kong franchise may have met its match when Troll makes its global premiere on the streaming site on December 1.
Netflix Toll Movie
From the director of the 2018 movie Tomb Raider and 2015s The Wave, Roar Uthaug, has taken inspiration from Norwegian folklore and mythology as trolls come to life from the rocks.
As the movie’s trailer revealed, the titular Troll is inspired by folk tales that describe a creature “made of earth and stones,” with “icy bones” and a “snowclad hearth.” In mythology, the troll is also vulnerable to the sun, and when it is exposed to daylight it hardens its body and freezes it into place.
The Netflix logline reads: ‘Deep inside the mountain of Dovre, something gigantic awakens after being trapped for a thousand years.
‘Destroying everything in its path, the creature is fast approaching the capital of Norway. But how do you stop something you thought only existed in Norwegian folklore?’
The trailer also shows some very unfortunate researchers who come across the creature wakening up and must set off on a mission to stop it before it rampages the Norwegian capital – 100% King Kong/Godzilla vibes.

Along with a script by Espen Auka, the movie will star Ine Marie Wilmann, Mads Sjøgård Pettersen, Kim Falck, Gard B. Eidsvold, and Pål Richard Lunderby.
