People on TikTok are sharing they’ve discovered the new UK Prime Minister is a Taylor Swift fan and they just can’t get over Liz Truss being a Swiftie.
Truss was elected the leader of the Conservative party and the new PM, on Monday, September 5, following Boris Johnson’s resignation in July this year which triggered a leadership race.
Of course, since then the new PM’s personal life has come under scrutiny and many people are noticing the 47-year-old was likely as excited about the announcement of Taylor Swift’s upcoming album Midnights as many other fans – because she is undoubtedly a Swiftie.
Liz Truss Loves Taylor Swift
You only need to do a quick scroll through Truss’ Instagram to see she’s a fan of the 11-times Grammy winner as she’s not only referenced the star but also posed with Swift a couple of years ago.
Truss even used some of Swift’s songs when it came to her walk-outs during hustings and when she was announced as the new Prime Minister – she used the song ‘Change’ from Swifts album Fearless.
Then, of course, the time when Truss directly quoted Swift on Women’s Day during a speech in the House of Commons. She said: ‘In the words of the brilliant Taylor Swift in her new song “women are left running as fast as they can, wondering if they would get there quicker if they were a man”.’
TikTok Can’t Get Over Liz Truss is a Swiftie
Since people on TikTok started becoming aware of it many simply can’t get over Truss being a Swiftie, with one person saying it means they have “one thing in common” with her.
One fan has optimistically asked if Truss will make October 21 – the day Midnights is released – a national holiday so we can all celebrate together.
