In the video, titled ‘Go Chickadees!’, Reynolds shows pictures of the cast members as their characters in the movie then flicks to a video of them waving at the camera, starting with him, all celebrating the anniversary of the movie that was the springboard for his 20-year impressive career.

Reid commented on the video saying: ‘Love you @Ryan Reynolds was so pleased to star alongside you in this iconic movie.’

Others commented they were shocked to realise the movie was already two decades old.

What is the Van Wilder movie?

Van Wilder was part of the second reincarnation of ‘National Lampoon’ movies when it was bought by J2 – the company had previously released such classics as Animal House, Movie Madness, and Christmas Vacation (all styled National Lampoon’s).

The movie follows the story of Van Wilder, played by Reynolds, who’s in his seventh year at college. Eventually, his party lifestyle is brought to light when student Gwen, played by Reid, writes an article about his legacy.

This attracts the attention of Van’s father, played by Tim Matheson, who cuts off his tuition. All while now on a mission to graduate Van gets stuck in the middle of a love triangle between Gwen and her mean-spirited boyfriend, Richard “Dick” Bagg. Van tries various schemes to earn enough money to pay his tuition and graduate, with help from Gwen and the rest of the student body, except for a couple of sinister enemies who attempt to sabotage his efforts.

Reynolds is first up in the TikTok video and since the movie, he’s had an outstanding career. The Canadian-born actor has truly made his mark in Hollywood – from the Deadpool franchise and Free Guy to The Adam Project Reynolds has been a master at the right amount of comedy mixed with the right amount of action and drama.

He also went on to marry Blake Lively, have three daughters, start his own gin company and own a British football team.

Tara Reid was next and although she was the co-star and main love interest in Van Wilder she’s probably known for her role in the American Pie franchise – this actor truly rocked the decade of teen movies. More recently she’s starred in the Sharkanado franchise and even took part in the UK Celebrity Big Brother in 2008.

Kal Pen made such a name for himself in the movie he actually went on to star in the sequel all based around him, Van Wilder: The Rise of Taj. This was just a stepping stone for Penn he went on to start in several Harold & Kumar movies (as Kumar) and even starred alongside Kiefer Sutherland in Designated Survivor. Penn has also been a political activist for several years, openly supporting the Democrats as part of Obama’s National Arts Policy Committee.

Tim Matheson was already a household name when he came to the 2002 movie and even starred in the OG ‘National Lampoon’ movie Animal House. Most recently he’s known for his role in The West Wing, for which he’s earned two Primetime Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Drama Series.

Teck Holmes is the fourth person to appear in Reynolds’ video. After the movie he made a great career having supporting roles in several big-name productions such as First Daughter and NCIS.
