McDonald's announces changes to breakfast menu and fans aren't happy

Vincent Ralph January 24, 2022

McDonald’s fans have woken up to the sad news that Bagels and Breakfast Wraps are no longer on the menu.

The famous arches’ UK Twitter account broke the news earlier today, and it is set to leave many disappointed. After all, both had been staples of the McDonald’s breakfast menu for ages.

There was some good news, with the fast-food giant announcing that you can grab a McMuffin for just 99p today via the McDonald’s App. But they know there are bigger issues today! Namely, that two of the choices many pick up on every week are gone.

Will they one day return? That’s a question up there with who is Robobunny? But McDonald’s clearly opted for a clean break following an earlier ‘trial separation’.

Announcing the change, restaurant chain, said, ‘We want our fans to know this is a mutual decision, to the extent that a bagel can make its own decision.’

Cryptic clue

The disappointment could be eased somewhat, with suggestions that something new is coming. When exactly that will be remains to be seen. But the Twitter post also contained this cryptic statement:

‘As for the rumours that there will be a new breakfast bae on the scene later this year…no comment.’

McDonald’s has been a student favourite for decades and there is no sign of that changing. Plenty of us have grabbed a midnight milkshake or post-club McNuggets when we spot those famous arches.

As for the morning crew, if you were hoping for those Bagels or Breakfast Wraps to return, you’ll need to look elsewhere.

And keep a close eye on McDonald’s social accounts in the months ahead for that teased new arrival.

Here is how some fans reacted to the news, including a certain Olly Murs:
