UK fans of the hit police comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine can finally get thier teeth into the eighth season of the show. While this season has been out in American since August 2021, UK viewers have had to wait until 20th April 2022.

If you have never seen the show before, here is a the basic premise: ‘Set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn. The show follows a team of dectectives headed by the serious and intellectual Captain Raymond Holt, who is assigned as their new commanding officer.’

The show will be aired every Wednesday at 9pm on E4. There are 10 episodes of around 20 minutes each.

It has sadly been confirmed that this will be the show’s final season. Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s showrunner, Dan Goor, stated, ‘Ending the show was a difficult decision, but ultimately, we felt it was the best way to honour the characters, the story and our viewers.’

Many of the cast and crew took to social media to describe how much the show meant to them.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine has never shyed away from serious themes, despite it being a comedy show. Throughout the seasons, the show has tackled racial profiling, sexual assault, coming out and the gender pay gap. And Season 8 is no different, making reference to topical themes from the past few years. The precinct takes a hit from COVID-19 and, most notably, the George Floyd protests.

The show has been on air since 2013 and has garnered a fierce following. Season 7 of the cop comedy was watched by some 2.7 million viewers. With an average audience rating of 95% on Rotten Tomatoes, it’s clear the show will be sorely missed.
