Whether you are starting this year or heading back there are definitely seven things everybody forgets to pack for university.
Though you will inevitably need to pick up supplies to decorate your room once you have moved into your accommodation, by bringing some if these items from home you can avoid spending freshers week queuing up in a packed Wilkos.
1. Plastic Cups
Almost every fortnight in first year, somebody in my flat would accidentally knock over and smash a glass at pres or when washing up.

Pack a couple of plastic glasses to avoid having to constantly sweep up smashed glass and replace your cups. Having spare plastic cups to hand for guests is also a lifesaver at a flat party.
2. Fancy Dress
Whilst this is by no means an essential item to pack, if you have a little space in the car and find some old fancy dress costumes gathering dust in your loft they may come in handy.
Many universities and student nightclubs have themed events where you can dress up. Bringing some outfits from home will save a few pennies. If you have a prom dress from college you are itching for an opportunity to re-wear, you should pack this as many societies and subjects will host a smart ball at the end of the year.
3. Door Stop
Propping your door open in the first few weeks of university is an easy way to ensure you meet and engage with your flatmates.
4. Bedside Lamp and Mirror Lighting
The lighting in university halls is notoriously dingy so if your room faces away from the sun you may want a light on your desk or bedside table. String lights around your mirror to avoid a classic patchy makeup look.
5. Documents
Particularly if you are planning on searching for part time work whilst at university, having your passport and national insurance number available will prove useful for right to work or DBS check.
6. Mattress Topper
Easily forgotten, having a mattress topper will make your bed much more comfy. Definitely worth squeezing
7. White Tac
If like me you plan on adorning your walls with posters and Free Prints at university, white tac generally leaves fewer marks on the wall than Blue Tac. You will be more likely to get your deposit back and won’t have to attack your walls with tester pots of paint at the end of the semester.
