**Spoilers ahead**

Stranger Things star Sadie Sink revealed in a recent interview that she had no idea who Kate Bush was prior to receiving the script for season four.

Sadie, who plays Max Mayfield in the Netflix series, has her character saved by Kate Bush’s song Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) from the evil Vecna.

In the interview with Vanity Fair, the 20-year-old said: ‘I did not know Kate Bush beforehand, but then I immediately skimmed through her work and then became increasingly more obsessed, and then I was listening to her all the time. I cannot even tell you how many times I’ve listened to Running Up That Hill‘.

Whole day marathon

Sink revealed how she listened to the song for an entire day on repeat as her character Max would have, to see what it would have been like for her.

‘I did do a whole day in my own time where I just was home and had it playing on in the background for the entire day, just to see if I would go insane, because that’s what Max was having to do. So I’m like, “Oh, my God. Would you get sick of it? How is she doing this all day?”‘

Since the release of Stranger Things season four, Running Up That Hill (A Deal With God) has reached number one in the UK charts, 37 years after its initial release.

Kate Bush released a statement on her website, thanking the Duffer Brothers for using the track in the show.

Salute them

‘I salute the Duffer Brothers for their courage – taking this new series into a much more adult and darker place. I want to thank them so much for bringing the song into so many people’s lives’.

‘I’m overwhelmed by the scale of affection and support the song is receiving and it’s all happening really fast, as if it’s being driven along by a kind of elemental force’, the singer said on her website.

Stranger Things season four volume two is out on Netflix July 2.
