Taylor Swift has announced her 10th studio album and fans are going wild saying it will ‘save’ them and they are ‘not ok’.

Last night, August 28, the 32-year-old surprised everyone by turning up to the VMAs where not only did she pick up an award she also made the tiny announcement that her tenth studio album is coming out on October 21. Understandably, fans have gone completely crazy over the news.

Fans weren’t even sure that Taylor would turn up to the VMAs last night. But she did a little more than that. The singing sensation was nominated for multiple awards for All Too Well (10-minute version) – Taylor’s Version.

The 11-times Grammy winner is the first artist to win Video of the Year three times and the first to win it for a self-directed music video.

Taylor Swift 10th Studio Album

At the end of an emotional speech when she talked about how proud she was so many women were in the directing category, the ‘Shake it off’ singer made the casual announcement she’d be releasing her first new music in two years in October.

Taylor’s new album is called Midnights – as any Swiftie will know this is a favourite time to write for the singer – which will feature 13 new songs all written around, you guessed it, midnight.

As if she hadn’t already (deservedly) stolen the show, the new album announcement is what the 2022 VMAs will be remembered for.

Fans go wild for Taylor Swift’s new album

As with any major announcement, fans took to Twitter to share their reaction to the news. Unsurprisingly. Taylor fans are a little excited about the upcoming album, Midnights. Some have even said it will ‘save’ them.

A messiah in her own right? Taylor fans go hard that it might be a religion in its own right.

Other fans are still trying to digest the news.

Taylor loves a surprise

Giving a little insight into the album, Taylor took to Instagram to share her motivations behind Midnights. The post already has almost 4 million likes.

The album will have thirteen tracks and promises to be her most collaborative yet. It’s also her first brand new album since re-recording her previous albums so that she has full ownership of all of her work. Fans have praised her endlessly for reclaiming all her work, with All Too Well (10-minute version) – Taylor’s version reaching 74 million views on YouTube.

In lockdown, Taylor surprised fans again by releasing Folklore and Evermore, her critically acclaimed eighth and ninth albums that saw lots of fans through a particularly worrying time.

Clearly a fan of a surprise, she’s done it again for her landmark tenth album. The announcement has solidified the soundtrack to our autumn/winter. Roll on October 21.
