The Apprentice star Baroness Karren Brady just confessed she has no idea who Molly-Mae Hauge and we’re all shocked.
Most of us can never go a day without hearing about or seeing Molly-Mae pop up on our social media feeds; the Love Island star has become so influential that we just assume that everybody knows who she is right?
After all, she now prides herself on being a successful business woman, holding the title of Creative Director of PrettyLittleThing.

However, in news that may be shocking to us students, one of the most successful businesswomen around – Karren Brady – had no idea the 22-year-old social media star even existed. Ouch, that one’s got to hurt.
In an exclusive interview with Metro, the 52-year-old Baroness was asked for her thoughts regarding the criticism Molly-Mae received regarding her ’24 hours’ comments – if you don’t know what I’m going on about then where have you been the last few months?
Of course, being the Queen of the business industry, we’d expect The Apprentice professional to have an opinionated view on the matter but her initial answer was definitely not one to be expected.
She simply answered: ‘I have no idea who Molly-Mae is, maybe you can enlighten me, sorry. I don’t know what the criticism was.’
This is rather a shocking and somewhat humorous response from someone who is rather high profile – perhaps Molly-Mae isn’t as famous as us students think she is.
After being ‘enlightened’ about the criticism and who in fact Molly Mae is, Karren shared her thoughts.
‘Was the criticism that it’s not about hard work, it’s about her being on the show [Love Island]? As far as I know that show has been on a long time and quite a lot of people have been on it and none of them have seemed to share the same success she has, if all of the things you’re saying are true,’ she said.
Turns out Molly-Mae may have an ally in Karren as she said she should be ‘praised’ for her achievements.
While Karren may have not been in the know of Molly-Mae’s comments, it seems here that she supports Molly-Mae’s career and credits her success and hard work; she used Love Island as a platform to ignite her career in ways that her fellow co-stars did not, and should not be criticised for doing so.
‘There’s no doubt that she’s worked hard to achieve what she wants and rather than being critical of that, she should be praised,’ she continued, ‘Opportunities come, it’s what you make of those opportunities, and you never really know what you’re capable of until you try. She’s turned it into a success and we should admire people like that.’
Why Did Molly-Mae Receive Criticism?
During an interview with Steven Bartlett the former she said: ‘You have one life, it’s up to you what you do with it…I’ve worked my absolute arse off to get where I am today.’
And when she talked about criticism she received for this she added: ‘Technically, that is correct, we do have the same 24 hours in a day.
‘We do all come back from different backgrounds and financial situations, but if you want something enough, you can achieve it.’
The influencer received massive amounts of backlash due to her comments as people called her ‘tone deaf’ to others’ struggles.
Regardless, Karren’s response highlights the key principles she believes in regarding businesswomen and their much deserved success, although let’s face it, we all still can’t get over the fact that she didn’t know who Molly-Mae was in the first place.
