Nothing beats a good day in on the sofa watching episode after episode, and there are so many great series on Disney+ to help you get started on your binge.
Whether you want to sink your teeth into a documentary, or if you’re after a star-studded action, a marvel fest, or an adult animation, Disney+ quite literally has it all.
Wizards Of Waverly Place
Wizards Of Waverly Place is a Disney Channel original which tells the story of a wizard family that live in New York whilst juggling school life and owning a sandwich shop. The three wizard siblings Alex (Selena Gomez), Justin (David Henry) and Max (Jake T. Austin) are wizards in training and have to take wizarding classes to train for the wizard competition.
Only one of the siblings will pass the competition to go on to get full powers, whilst the other two will lose their powers, becoming mortals. The family keep their magic secret and even has a secret wizard lair in their restaurant’s freezer.
In the show, we see the siblings attend wizarding school in a castle (remind you of anything?), wizards vs. vampires storyline, angels, werewolves and so many other twists and turns. The show is hilariously funny, and once you’re done bingeing, there’s a 1 hour special and a movie.
American Horror Story
Created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk, American Horror Story is an anthology series. The show has recurring cast members such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emma Roberts, Jessica Lange and Lily Rabe.
The first series, Murder House tells the story of a house with a killer secret and targets whoever moves in. Apocalypse is about a nuclear attack causing the end of the world. The season merges together all of the season’s characters – kind of like an Avengers: Endgame if you will. The most recent season Double Feature is split in two, the first half is about blood-sucking vampires, and the second half is about extraterrestrials. There really is a season for everything. Witches, cults, cannibals? You name it, it’s on AHS.
WandaVision
Marvel’s first Disney+ series is an ode to classic sitcoms such as Full House, The Brady Bunch and Modern Family. The series takes a huge twist and becomes one of Marvel’s best projects to date. Starring Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, the project explores grief through a reality controlled by Wanda. They live through the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s and the 2000s before Vision realises something isn’t quite right.
WandaVision is chilling, and each episode leaves you wanting more, which is perfect for a binge-fest. The series also leads directly into Doctor Strange: In The Multiverse Of The Madness, which has recently been added to Disney+.
The Simpsons
Loved by everyone, it’s no wonder The Simpsons has made its way onto this list. With 32 seasons currently streaming on Disney+, you will never run out of episodes to binge. The Simpsons follows the lives of Marge and Homer and their three children Maggie, Lisa and Bart as they get up to their daily antics. The series is one to binge as it is one you can jump into with a sense of familiarity, and there is no consistent plot line.
The Simpsons is well known for hilarious gags and guest stars. Just recently, Billie Eilish played herself in the special ‘When Billie Met Lisa’, which is up for ‘Outstanding Animated Program’ at the 2022 Emmy Awards.
The Walking Dead
Currently in its final season, The Walking Dead is known for its loyal fanbase. This show follows a world that has been struck by a zombie apocalypse. The seasons take you on a journey across barren lands as a group tries to survive malicious zombies as well as human gangs who threaten their survival.
This show has every archetype for you to root for and is jam-packed full of action. This is the perfect time to catch up, as the epic finale is out in autumn 2022.
