Add as preferred source on Google

No day in London is complete without a trip to a book shop. Or two. Or even three, if you’re like me. So, without further ado, let me introduce you to the best bookshops in London.

Daunt Books, Marylebone

This quaint looking bookshop tucked away in Marylebone is quite the opposite inside. You’re greeted by all the best sellers as you walk in, but behind that is a two-story book cove, complete with balconies. It’s a book lovers heaven where you’ll find a book on absolutely everything. With a window letting the sun shine on this gorgeous shop, you’ll want to post this on Instagram immediately. They also sell iconic tote bags if you want some memorabilia from your visit.

Foyles, Charing Cross Road

The mother of all bookshops. This Foyles store has four floors of books, DVDs, CDs, and stationery. Complete with a café and a friendly greeting sign when you walk in, this shop is the equivalent to cloud nine. It’s also student friendly, with plenty of space to do some work and a student discount if you’re a loyalty member.

Gosh! Comics, Soho

A shop dedicated to graphic novel lovers. Located in the heart of Soho, this store has it all. From manga to mainstream, there’s a graphic novel in here for everyone. There’s a real industrial feel to the shop which fits the unique vibe in there. Even if you’re not a comic book lover, this shop is definitely worth a visit!

Hatchards, Piccadilly

Claiming to be the oldest book shop in the country, Hatchards is an iconic bookshop. If you’re looking for a high-end shop, this is the one. It has three Royal Warrants, issued by Queen Elizabeth II, the Prince of Wales, and the Duke of Edinburgh. Meaning that this is the bookshop used by the royal family! It also attracts several high-profile authors and was used by some of the greats. Oscar Wilde has a table named after him in there because of how much he used it. It can be located next to Fortnum & Mason’s in Piccadilly. But, if you can’t get there, it has a smaller pop-up shop found in St. Pancras. Perfect for nipping in to on your way back from London!

There are so many hidden gems in London in the way of bookshops, and this list offers just a few great ones. By visiting these booksellers, you’re keeping the art of literature alive!
