Choosing where you’re going to spend the next year or so can be rather stressful as there are so many different factors to consider. Cost, space, convenience and access are just a few that spring to mind. The University of Birmingham offers a wide range of different halls so you can choose one that best fits your needs.
Oakley Court
Oakley Court is located in Pritchatts Park Village, with flats situated around a beautiful courtyard. Flats can accommodate up to thirteen people, so you may have to get acquainted with quite a few housemates if you choose to live hear. Individual rooms are rather basic but have everything you need for a comfortable stay, including a shared kitchen and bathroom. Based on the length of one university year, Oakley Court will set you back a total of £6,114.
Ashcroft
Ashcroft is also in Pritchatts Park Village but differs to Oakley Court in that flats only accommodate six people. You will have a shared bathroom and kitchen and again, a basic, furnished. For £4,994 per university year, Ashcroft is one of the cheapest option at the University and is bound to be a favourite among those who would rather keep that extra money for nights out.
Bournbrook
Bournbrook is a modern building based right next to the university gates. Rolling out of bed and turning up to lectures couldn’t be any easier. Flats accomodate up to seven people and provide each resident with an en-suite. There are shared communal areas however, as well as a Sports Pavillion, so there are plenty of spaces to socialised. Per university year, staying at Bournbrook will cost you £7,499.
Jarratt Hall
Jarratt Hall is a larger accommodation site, situated around a courtyard and housing over 700 students, including postgraduates. There are en-suites for residents as well as communal areas (including a room with games consoles!) This accommodation is only a five-minute walk to campus and costs £6,892 per uni year.
Shackleton
Shackleton is located in the beautiful setting of The Vale, being a popular choice among students with a meal plan due to its catering facilities. Students can opt of either en-suite or shared accommodation, with flats of up to eight people. You can even opt for one of its fifteen studio apartments. A stay at Shackleton will cost around £8,667 per uni year.
Chamberlain
Chamberlain is a modern accommodation site on The Vale, being a twenty minute walk away from the main campus. Both studio apartments and shared flats are available within the low-rise buildings with the rooms being rather new and a little bit more homely. Per university year, a stay at Chamberlain costs £7,641
Aitken
Aitken is to be found at the top of The Vale and is right near The Hub – a popular social space for many students on The Vale. You will have a shared bathroom with this one but, unlike other shared accommodation, you do get an individual washbasin within your room. Aitken has been newly refurbished making it up-to-date a fresh for your arrival and costing you £5,373 per uni year.
Green Community
Green Community is located in Tennis Court, providing a unique way of living for students who have a passion for the caring for the environment. The accommodation has a courtyard, a solar panelled roof, apple trees, living walls and bird boxes. You’ll even be able to contribute to environmental projects with those who share a similar interest. This is an exciting opportunity that costs £5,265 a uni year.

Tennis Court
Tennis Court is a shared accommodation at the end of The Vale, with flats of up to six people. The rooms are basic and similar to those of Oakley Court and Ashcroft but are perfectly comfortable. Being located opposite the university running track, Tennis Court is close to campus, costing you £5,265 per uni year.
Maple Bank
Maple Bank is available as an option to both those who are on meal-plan or prefer to self-cater. Situated in The Vale, the accommodation is the cheapest option and includes a shared kitchen and bathroom, shared with four other people. Maple Bank is located near The Hub (home to bars and eateries) and will cost £3,821 per uni year.
Mason
Mason is a popular choice amongst students, being a modern accommodation in The Vale. You will share a flat with up to five other people but will have an en-suite bathroom included. There are also options to rent a studio flat, with all accommodation types offering convenient access to bike storage facilities. Mason costs around £7,298 per university year.
Oak Brook Park
Oak Brook Park is located opposite the university, with extremely easy access to the main, Edgbaston campus. The accommodation is part of a partner accommodation in which the university does not own, however you are still able to access university events and advice just as you would if you were living on a university owned site. The building is just a five minute walk away from the main Bristol Road shopping area meaning that your weekly food shop could never be easier. Flats have en-suites with the building being monitored by CCTV 24/7 for maximum security. A stay at Oak Brook Park costs up to £6,972 per uni year.
Battery Park
Battery Park is another partner accommodation site, being a fifteen minute walk away from campus. Major retail shops and the ‘big Sainsburys’ are all on it’s doorstep alongside Selly Oak train station and a student favourite, The Bristol Pear pub. Rooms come with en-suites, with flats of up to six people, all being extremely modern and fresh. Battery Park is one of the more expensive options but is perfect for those who wish for a few more luxuries, costing around £7,560 per uni year.
The Metalworks
The Metalworks is a modern building and a popular choice being just a five minute walk away from campus, located on the corner of Selly Oak. It’s also close to the Battery Park shopping area which makes shopping really easy. The site used to belong to a car factory giving it some interesting history. Fast forward to the modern day and The Metalworks is a luxurious accommodation site with en-suite facilities. The Metalworks costs students £7,350 per uni year.
Elgar Court
Elgar Court is located in Edgbaston and provides students with en-suite facilities. Being recently refurbished in 2017, the flats are refreshed and revamped for students to enjoy. This is a perfect spot for students who prefer self-catered accommodation (although Meal Plan is available) with the shared kitchen and dining area being a favourite amongst residents. A stay per uni year at Elgar Court will cost you £6,938.
The Spinney
The Spinney is for post-graduate students only, located in Pritchatts Park Village and offering single study rooms. The Spinney is a unique looking building that includes shared bathrooms and kitchens. The contract for this accommodation is slightly longer, being that of 50 weeks. A year’s stay at The Spinney will cost post-graduate students £7,092.
