After a 13-year wait Avatar 2 is officially feels like its on the way as the long-awaited movie trailer has dropped and fans are losing it.
Avatar: The Way of Water is set to hit theatres on December 16, 13 years after James Cameron’s 2009 epic hailed to be a CGI success, now the trailer has dropped and it’s absolutely everything fans have been waiting for.
All We Know About Avatar 2
The highly-anticipated sequel picks up ten years following the original movie and the trailer starts off showing a group of Na’vi leaping in the treetops and flying over the sea riding winged creatures on their planet of Pandora. It shows within the ten-year gap between movies Jake Sully – played by Sam Worthington – who fully became a Na’vi at the end of the last film has started a family with his partner Neytiri – played by Zoe Saldana.
Jake and Neytiri don’t only have children but in one scene it shows the family hugging a human wearing – who wears a mask to live on the planet with them – who seemingly lives like a member of the alien species.
The trailer also givers viewers a first-look at the next conflict or war the Na’vi could be facing, this time more on the water. There’s also the presence of Na’vi avatars in human-military clothing, which could suggest humans didn’t take well to being fended off at the end of the first movie and have now really pursued using the Na’vi avatars as weapons of war.
The only line spoken in the trailer is by Worthington’s character who says: ‘I know one thing. Wherever we go, this family is our fortress.’
Alongside Worthington and Saldana, Sigourney Weaver return in the new film, while Kate Winslet, Vin Diesel and Michelle Yeoh also appear.
Fans Lose It
Since the trailer dropped fans have been losing it saying how excited they are – one person even said they’d been waiting for this moment since they were ten-years-old, now that’s dedication, and another said this time around they’d be taking their kids with them to share the experience.
Even James Cameron said he’d been ‘looking forward’ to it – and he made the film. Though, this could be him getting in on the joke it has taken quite the while for the film to come to fruition.
