Drag legends Trixie Mattel and Katya Zamolodchikova are halfway through their massive live tour. On 4 December, they came to the O2 Apollo arena in Manchester, performing to lots of dedicated fans.

Who Are Trixie And Katya?

Trixie and Katya made their name on season seven of Ru Paul’s Drag Race. They came in fifth and sixth place respectively, a place which garners most queens relative fame within the community.

However, after the season, Trixie and Katya were put together to host the YouTube show UNHhhh, which has since given them widespread fame. As well as this, Trixie has released four albums, launched her own makeup company and now owns a motel.

Trixie And Katya Live

Trixie and Katya’s live show is unlike anything I have ever seen before. Simply put: it was amazing.

At base level, it is a scripted show following the two queens as they are blackmailed by a company called “Klarma” to promote their business. As the show progresses, their manager, played by drag race alumni Kelly Mantle, gets injured as a result of the blackmail.

There is joke after joke in the script, which is very cleverly written. However, in true Trixie and Katya style, the queens inevitably get lines wrong and miss cues, causing them to fall out of character and show us the Trixie and Katya we know and love.

During the performance, Trixie does what she’s does best and sings a hilarious song accompanied by her own playing of the guitar. She sings about how we have already paid for the tickets, so she shouldnt “try that hard”.

Katya then comes on and performs an obscure Russian dance number in tight lycra – which had everyone on their feet.

I won’t ruin the end of the show for you, but let me tell you, it is well worth the wait!

Upcoming Dates

The show is only in Europe until 11 December and then it transfers to North America.
