The trailer for the upcoming Netflix series Dahmer is here, but now people on Twitter are calling out the new Jeffrey Dahmer series for ‘glorifying serial killers’.
The series, which is set to drop on the streaming site later this year, follows the life of the infamous serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer who killed 17 people in a 13-year period.
New Jeffrey Dahmer Series
A teaser trailer for the series – fully title Dahmer – Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story – gives audiences a first look at Evan Peters as he takes on the role of the notorious killer.
Peters, who shot to fame for his work in American Horror Story (AHS), has teamed up with a familiar face for Dahmer as the series is also being brought to life by the AHS creator Ryan Murphy.
The movie synopsis reads: ‘Dahmer chronicles the story of one of America’s most notorious serial killers (Peters), largely told from the point of view of Dahmer’s victims, and dives deeply into the police incompetence and apathy that allowed the Wisconsin native to go on a multiyear killing spree.’
The Daily Mail reports the 10-episode limited series will spend from the 1960s through the early 1990s – when Dahmer was eventually caught. The cast is also said to include Niecy Nash, Penelope Ann Miller, Shaun J. Brown, Colin Ford, and Richard Jenkins.
Twitter calls out new Jeffrey Dahmer series
Dahmer killed, officially, killed 17 men and boys between the years of 1978 and 1991 before he was apprehended and eventually died in a prison attack. And this isn’t the first time the life of the serial killer has been brought to life on the silver screen.
The serial killer was most recently played on screen by Ross Lynch in the film My Friend Dahmer, with Jeremy Renner previously playing Dahmer in a 2002 movie called Dahmer.
Now, people on Twitter have said is ‘enough is enough’ with serial killer movies, especially ones about Dahmer and some have even said it’s ‘glorifying serial killers’.
Dahmer isn’t the only serial killer to be brought to life on the screen, the 1970’s killer Ted Bundy was portrayed by Zac Efron in the 2019 movie Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile.
