Netflix has confirmed The Umbrella Academy will be returning for a fourth and final season and creators have promised an ‘amazing story’.
Fans of the anti-hero show were left with major cliffhangers at the end of season 3 and more questions, but hopefully, this will all be answered as season 4 is officially happening, it just happens it’ll be the last we see of the Hargreeves siblings.
Umbrella Academy Final Season
It was announced today, August 25, the Hargreeves’ would be going on one final adventure for season 4, after battling against their siblings – and dancing to ‘Footloose’ – in season 3.
Series creator, executive producer, and showrunner Steve Blackman told Variety: ‘I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago.
‘But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.’
Season 3 ended with the siblings being transported to a whole new timeline – not the Umbrella or Sparrow one – one where they were without powers, missing a few siblings (where were Allison and Sloane?) and already under the watchful eye of their dad, Reginald.
Ben Hargreeves
Although plot details are being kept pretty tightly under wraps, but Blackman told Tudum the Ben Hargreeves seen on the Korean subway at the end of season 3 isn’t a whole new Ben, but Sparrow Ben who survived with the Umbrella siblings.
He said: ‘Let’s be clear — that is Sparrow Ben. The question you should really be asking yourself is what the f*ck is he doing on a Korean subway train reading a book about pottery? Odd, right? Of course, it is! This is the Umbrella Academy.
‘As every good Umbrella fan knows, no moment in the show exists in isolation. Everything we see has meaning. And this moment is no exception. Ben has a reason to be there… but you’ll have to wait until Season 4 to understand why.’
