Musicals make the soul happy. That is a fact. While Waitress may have some tough subjects intertwined in it, at its core, this show is truly amazing. Full of positivity and pies! You don’t want to miss it.
What is Waitress about?
Shockingly, it’s about a waitress.
We follow Jenna Hunterson, who works in a diner. She loves to bake pies, as it reminds her of times with her mother when she was a child. Jenna is in an abusive relationship with her husband, Earl. When she gets unexpectedly pregnant, Jenna begins an affiar with her doctor, Dr Pomatter.
Her best friends, Dawn and Becky, urge Jenna to leave Earl. But with no money, Jenna seeks out a pie baking contest and its grand money prize, hoping to find a way out.
Waitress: The musical, is based on the 2007 film of the same name. The music was written almost entirely by Sara Bareilles, famously known for her song Love Song. Bareilles also has seven Grammy nominations. The plot of Waitress was inspired by a book by Jessie Nelson.
