The Chinese New Year began its celebrations on February 1st, welcoming in the year of the tiger. For those sitting there thinking, ‘What does that mean?’, allow me to explain. The Chinese Animal Zodiac is based on the lunar calendar.
Each year is associated with a different animal and its traits, with this repeating every twelve-year cycle. If you are wondering what each animal represents, here is a list of all twelve zodiac animals and their meanings.
Rat
If you were born in the year of the rat then you are most likely to be quick-witted, bright and intelligent although you can lack courage, determination and can be a bit stubborn!
Due to a preference of being active and independent you prefer working by yourself rather than with others. Your 2022 will be comfortable, prompting you to never regret anything and take chances to better your success.
Ox
The year of the ox births people who are faithful and are great leaders. If you are looking for a trustworthy and loyal friend then look out for an ox as they will have your back. Oxen are hardworking and honest making them excellent employees (just beware that they can bit a tiny bit strict!)
They like systems and structure, understanding that everyone should play their part to achieve success. Due to these positive traits they can often be quiet and overcautious to avoid doing anything wrong. Oxen are very rational with 2022 set to see them be very lucky and fortunate. Any difficult experiences faced this year will be faced head on with their logical mindset.
Tiger
Tigers are courageous and confident and like oxen make good leaders, with their strong communication and organisation skills being respected. They also have a good heart and can be passionate, generous and understand justice. Due to their need for justice they will often say things how it is and point out the errors of loved ones as a figure of just. This can be seen as rather rebellious, often believing that it is their way or the highway.
2022 may not be filled with luck for tigers so to avoid negativity they should approach the year with cautiousness.
Rabbit
Rabbits are quiet, positive, gentle and elegant – they don’t like to compete with others. They are very headstrong and motivated to meet their goals and ambitions. Whilst they look soft and potentially vulnerable, don’t be too easily fooled by this – some would say they have trust issues and struggle to let others get close to them, being aware of ulterior motives. They do however, remain polite and respectful when socialising. Oh and the chances are if you are a rabbit then you are a little bit vain!
2022 looks positive for rabbits who will achieve great things however they may need to work on their patience within friendships and work settings.
Dragon
Those with dragon attributes are often quite strong characters, usually bringing in a lot of followers. They often have a charm that makes them very likeable, with them always thinking of other people’s feelings. However, dragons usually are proud creatures which can bring with it unwanted criticism from others.
Dragons also struggle with persevering and going through with their ideas. 2022 will be greatly positive for dragons, with this year being better than other years! They will go through the year feeling much more happier.
Snake
I was born in the year of the snake myself so this one is rather interesting to me! Snakes are said to be mysterious yet graceful. They are calm and always follow through with their plans. They can keep a cool head in the most difficult of situations also being deep thinkers.
In 2022, snakes will face a number of difficult challenges which they should keep a rational head about rather than acting with impulse.
Horse
Horses are probably the most energetic and enthusiastic of all the zodiac animals although they struggle to hide their emotions making them very easy to read. They are extremely popular amongst people due to their lively nature. Horses seem to have it all; they are both talented and intelligent!
However, being an allrounder can make them overconfident and a little bit too ambitious. They are also quite impulsive, struggling to think before they act. 2022 will see horses create happiness from maintaining and creating healthy and positive relationships with others. It is suggested that horses will do well financially this year too!
Sheep
The sheep zodiac are gentle, calm and soft and never get angry. They take time to recognise other people’s feelings and never attempt to hurt anybody.
Due to their ability to always look out for others, they can be pessimistic, assuming the worst. 2022 will be a year of mainly good luck for sheep, with a positive emphasis on wealth and relationships!
Monkey
Monkeys have great intelligence and are also physically strong. They are also courageous and humorous making them very likeable. However, due to their strong skillset, they may struggle to hide boasting of their brilliance.
Monkeys are very energetic and are competitive, with 2022 potentially bringing them difficulties that require them to stay away from things that provide a threat to their safety.
Rooster
Those born in the year of the rooster and able to handle change well and make for great friends due to their outgoing nature. They never give up and are constantly looking for ways to improve themselves although this can often lead them to be arrogant individuals.
Roosters are the most fortunate of all of the zodiac animals this year, with their 2022 set out to bring them great achievements and prosperity.
Dog
Dogs are loyal, honest and brave – they are nicknamed ‘man’s best friend’ for a reason. Those born in the year of the dog are cautious at first but are reliable and honest companions to those they trust. However, they are often quick to criticise others, being observant individuals.
2022 will bring dogs good luck although they are advised to avoid fighting with others.
Pig
Pigs are hard-workers and take on a lot of responsibility. Other people appreciate their compassion but may take advantage of their emotional nature. Pigs are also easily influenced by others which means that they face the prospect of being deceived by those they trust.
2022 will not provide easy luck for pigs, instead they will have to work hard with a positive attitude to gain success this year.
