What Is Lucky Girl Syndrome?

Lucky girl syndrome is a form of manifestation that brings you luck through repeating affirmations such as “I’m so lucky” and “Great things always happen to me.” You have to really believe that good things are going to happen to you and everything will work out.

The hashtag #LuckyGirlSyndrome currently has over 42 million views and has taken the social media app by storm.

The hashtag is filled with people sharing their lucky girl stories, whether that’s getting their dream job, being asked on a date, or even as simply as being given a free coffee.

Of course, the trend has had a fair share of criticism that people are either lying or just ignoring that their privilege plays a part in being lucky, however it’s hard to ignore the fact that so many people are saying it works. Is it really possible to gain luck just by manifesting it?

TikTok user Laura Glebe, said: “I genuinely consider myself one of the luckiest people I know. I get the most opportunities thrown at me out of nowhere… it feels like the odds are completely in my favour.”

Does Lucky Girl Syndrome Work?

The general consensus is that while it can help bring good into your life by putting those positive affirmations into the world, it probably can’t bring actual luck. Amanda Cassel, PhD, clinical psychologist, told Elite Daily, “It’s important to clarify that there is no scientific evidence that affirmations change reality.

Having said that, what we know from Cognitive Behavioral research is that when you change how you think about something, it changes how you feel. This is called cognitive reframing and it has been shown to help with anxiety and depression.”

So there you have it, maybe if you manifest enough, some luck will come your way!
