You may have seen creators on TikTok using a new format to share their funny or sad stories, but what is the “One thing about me” trend?
A lot of TikTok stars, including celebrities such as Rebecca Black, have now started following the trend and creating their own versions of “One thing about me”.
What is the ‘One thing about me’ TikTok trend?
The trend actually started back in April when creators would share a fact or story about themselves starting with “one thing about me”, often with text overlaid on a picture or video with “Summer Background Jazz” playing in the background. Ed Sheeran even got on board and shared his own version.
However, the trend started to pick up traction again when Nicki Minaj released her song “Super Freaky Girl” as in her song she raps: ‘One thing about me, I’m the baddest alive.’
So, instead of repeating that fully the creators are starting with “one thing about me” and then telling their own story, with the beat of “Super Freaky Girl” playing in the background – some even do the dance moves that when viral.
Many users are telling childhood stories or embarrassing moments – and some have used it to raise awareness for awful things such as attempted child abductions, according to the users.
One girl told the story of how “petty” she was in a relationship, while another creator explained how she accidentally told her friend her parents were getting divorced and upset her.

It’s not only creators, former teen star Rebecca Black also shared a story from when she was 14 and her family, and her, were scammed into going to Mexico under the guise of doing a meet and greet with fans.
Really a family member was working for a presidential candidate’s campaign, at the time, and she ended up answering questions about that and looking like she had real views on this candidate when she was only a child.
