We all want accessing our favourite songs to be a simple and easy process. Now, Spotify wants to help us do that. Now letting users ‘exclude from Taste Profile’, we dive into what Spotify Taste Profile is, what it means to exclude from it and how to set it up.
It seems Spotify is always releasing new features to try and make the streaming service even better for its users. Nobody wants random songs interrupting their playlist, so Spotify has come up with some ways to keep recommending songs you actually want to listen to.
Spotify ‘Exclude From Taste Profile’ Feature Explained
Released last week, Spotify Newsroom shared all the details on the new feature being introduced.
Your Taste Profile is what the streaming service believes your music type is, based on how you listen and what to. Through that, it gives you a more personalised experience by recommending songs it thinks link to your taste. It will take songs from across your account and combine them into a couple of playlists representing the whole of your music taste.
However, just because you listen to a certain playlist to work out, doesn’t mean you want to listen to it whilst studying. That’s where the ‘exclude’ feature comes in. Pretty easily, you can request that certain playlists don’t get analysed when configuring your Taste Profile. So, when your daily mixes or top song playlist comes up, that one time you were listening to your S Club 7 playlist won’t affect it.
Plus, it works retrospectively. Any past, present or future listens of the ‘excluded’ playlist will be removed from your Taste Profile.

How To Set It Up
How to exclude from your Spotify Taste Profile is super easy. Simply find and select the playlist you are excluding from recommendations. Click the three dots at the top of the screen and select ‘Exclude from your Taste Profile.’
Later on, you might realise that actually you want those songs included on a personalised playlist. Thankfully, you can also turn off the new feature. Just switch it off the way you turned it on!
Now, you can listen to whatever dodgy playlist you want without it ruining any credibility! Your music taste is sacred and some of it should be a secret. Plus, any excluded playlists can still be found in likes or on the home page.
Though we all love a blend of our favourite tunes, sometimes your playlists need to be kept separate. If you have songs tailored for road trips, parties or studying, you can rest easy knowing that they won’t be popping up all over the place.
If you’re looking for a playlist, especially for Valentine’s Day, then you’ll want to check out Spotify Blend.
