Simply buying your coffee and drinking it is too easy. That’s why the franchise is introducing Starbucks Odyssey, adding a little extra reward to your favourite order. Reward systems and loyalty schemes have been in place for a long time. Sure, they’re making sure we spend our money with them, but getting extra treats and badges makes us feel all the better doing it. Well, Starbucks are upping their game by giving their customers a journey to experience.
Starbucks Odyssey Experience Is More Than A Reward Card
Launched last year to a very select number of customers in the US, Starbucks Odyssey sends its customers on a journey, earning major rewards along the way. Let us explain.
An extension of Starbucks Rewards but with the added help of Web3 technology, customers will take part in ‘journeys’, or interactive activities. Meant to be entertaining or educational, you’ll be transported to coffee bean farms, take quizzes on franchise trivia and even play games such as Starbucks For Life.
Even more, there’s a digital community involved where you can share just how much you love coffee with everyone else involved.
Currently, the new feature is in beta testing after an initial pre-release in December 2022. The plan is for new members to be invited each month from the waitlist. If you’re in the US, you can join the list here and wait patiently for your invite.
What Are The Starbucks NFTs?
The Starbucks NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, are what customers earn when completing a ‘journey.’ So, when you complete an interactive part of Starbucks Oydessey, you are rewarded with NFTs.
The NFTs are called ‘Journey Stamps’ and the more you collect, the more you can unlock. Customers will use the stamps to get a reward, of which there are three levels.
Some examples Starbucks gives are:
- 1: Virtual coffee-making class
- 2: Exclusive Merchandise
- 3: Trips to Starbucks coffee farms in Costa Rica
It puts your free coffee now and then to shame.
Unfortunately, the Starbucks Odyssey experience is only available to those in the US, and a very select few people at that. It’s not known when, or if, the experience will be more widely available. For now, you’ll just have to use the regular Starbucks Reward app.
Divulge In The Starbucks Odyssey Blend
Whilst you’re waiting for the game/experience/rewards scheme, you can always get a taste of Starbucks Odyssey. No, there’s not a free trial or some online leak — we mean an actual taste.
Even for lovers in the UK, the coffee chain offers Starbucks Odyssey blend. Even if you can’t go on the journeys quite yet, you can still get involved through your coffee order.
This blend is a medium roast with a fruity twist. Made with tangerine zest and maripan notes, the coffee has a chocolate body with a honey and floral finish.
It sounds like it’s got a bit of everything in it, which would match The Odyssey really. If you feel like trying the blend, then you should give it a go! Though we’re not sure your opinion on it will affect how quickly you get accepted onto the experience.
