Lightyear made waves since it originally hit cinemas back in June, now what everyone wants to know is when is it coming to Disney+?
The movie became a huge success from the onset, grossing a total of $214.1 million, as of July 20, 2022, at the worldwide box office, according to Box Office Mojo.
When is Lightyear coming to Disney+?
The official Lightyear Twitter account took to the platform to share the news, along with a new trailer of the movie, confirming the highly-anticipated movie would be coming to the streaming site on August 3.
What is the Lightyear about?
The film follows space ranger Buzz Lightyear who inspired the toy from Toy Story. The ranger is stuck on a planet 4.2 million light years away from Earth with his crew. The movie follows the gang as they search for a way to get back home.
As Buzz goes on an adventure through space with his crew, they recruit an unlikely group of friends. A robot named Sox becomes their unexpected companion. The gang face challenges which they must come together to conquer, including an evil robot army.
Speaking about the Disney+ release, Director Angus MacLane said: ‘Lightyear looks amazing on the big screen, of course. But we are so excited to bring it to Disney+’.
‘We devoted years of our lives to this film and we are so proud of it. We want to share it with as many people as possible. Disney+ not only gives more fans an opportunity to see Lightyear, it gives us all the means to see it again and again’.
Lightyear has an amazing star-studded cast including big names such as Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Buzz Lightyear, Uzo Adaba (Orange Is The New Black) as his commander, Taika Waititi (JoJo Rabbit) as Mo Morrison and even UK astronaut Tim Peake as Mission Control.
