Zak Abel and cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason have been confirmed as the guest musical act on this week’s Strictly Come Dancing results show. Let’s take a look at who Sheku and Zak are, and what we might expect.
After releasing a new single with Sheku Kanneh-Mason, singer-songwriter Zak Abel will be performing in the musical interlude section on the Strictly Results show on Sunday.
Who Are Sheku And Zak?
Zak Abel is an English-Moroccan singer, songwriter and musician. He rose to fame after featuring on the top 20 hit, Unmissable back in 2014. Since then, he has been signed by Atlantic Records and released songs such as Rock Bottom, featuring Wretch 32.
As well as being a talented singer, Zak has songwriting credits with John Legend for Paloma Faith’s 2017 single, I’ll Be Gentle.
Sheku Kannah-Mason is a talented cellist who has collaborated with Zak on his latest single. He started out by auditioning with his brothers on Britains’s Got Talent in 2015. Though their act didn’t win, it demonstrated his overwhelming skill on the cello. Sheku won the Young Musician of the Year award back in 2016 and was the first black musician to win the award since it debuted in 1978. In the same year, he was the focus of a BBC 4 documentary, Young, Gifted and Classical: The Making of a Maestro.
The cellist has performed at the BAFTAs, the Royal Variety Show and even at the wedding of Prince Harry and Megan Markle in 2018.
The two appear to be great friends, posting musical covers on Zak’s Instagram.
Zak Abel Tour 2023
In his most recent Instagram post, Zak has announced that he will be going on a European tour in 2023. Beginning in April of next year, the Zak Abel tour will begin in Oslo and finish in Dublin in early June. The singer has announced 8 UK dates, all in May and June.
- London: 23 May
- Bristol: 24 May
- Brighton: 25 May
- Birmingham: 27 May
- Manchester: 28 May
- Leeds: 29 May
- Glasgow: 1 June
The artist has promised some new music and is even encouraging you to “bring your mum and even your nan.”
Tickets and more information can be found on his website.
They Will Perform in the Week 8 Strictly Results Show
This week, the remaining celebrities will be performing for a chance for a place in the Blackpool special. After Ellie Simmons and Nikita Kuzmin were eliminated last week, 9 stars remain for the 2022 Strictly title.

Still competing are Ellie Taylor and Johannes Radebe, Fleur East and Vito Coppola, and Hamza Yassin and Jowita Przystal. Also left in the competition are Helen Skelton, Kym Marsh, Tony Adams, Will Mellor and Tyler West. Molly Rainford, the youngest in the competition, will have something extra to prove after being in the bottom two last week.
Sheku and Zak will perform in the middle of the results announcement as is typical in the show. It’s expected that they will give us a live rendition of Good Times, the track they have collaborated on. Whilst we’re sure to enjoy their performance, the celebrities will be not-so-patiently waiting to hear the Blackpool special fate.
Catch the results show on Sunday, on BBC 1 at 7:20 pm.
