Ade Adepitan has been announced as a host of this year’s Children In Need fundraiser on the BBC. This will be Adepitan’s seventh year co-hosting the event. Here’s a look at who Ade Adepitan is, his extensive career, and what to expect from this year’s charity programming, which has been entitled ‘The Great SPOTacular.’
Who is Ade Adepitan?
Adedoyin Olayiwola “Ade” Adepitan MBE is a television presenter, Paralympic medalist, author and journalist. As a presenter, Adepitan has worked on a number of different projects. He has presented on programmes such as the Invictus Games, The One Show, New York: America’s Busiest City, Britain on Benefits, The Travel Show, The Superhumans Show, Unreported World, and the Global Citizen Festival. He’s also hosted the 2014 Winter Paralympic Games and the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio.

Not only has he hosted the Paralympics, Adepitan has also competed in them. He is a wheelchair basketball player, having started his career playing for the Milton Keynes Aces Club before being selected for Team GB. He helped his teams bring home the bronze medal in 2004, and the gold medal in 2005.
Adepitan has used his platform to speak out on a number of issues, including racism, disability discrimination and environmental issues. He took part in the Disabled Motoring UK Alps Challenge. Most recently, he has released the four-part docuseries Africa with Ade Adepitan. He received an MBE in 2006, and an honorary doctorate from Loughborough University. He has supported numerous charities, including Comic Relief, Rotary International, and the Gates Foundation.
When is Children in Need 2022?
The BBC’s annual fundraising event for Children In Need is back in full swing for 2022. The event has been a huge success in the past, drawing a significant viewership. Last year’s appeal was able to raise a total of £51 million. The donations fund efforts to support the wellbeing of children across the UK, foster positive relationships in their lives, and provide them opportunities to flourish on equal footing.
The event, also known as Pudsey Day, will be broadcast on Friday, November 18 at 7pm, and can be watched later on iPlayer. The event will feature prize draws, sketches, entertainment, music and dance.
