Both Tom Grennan and Joel Corry have been confirmed to be performing on this week’s Strictly Come Dancing Results Show. But who is Tom Grennan and what can we expect from the singer?
With a new album coming in 2023, the 27-year-old singer-songwriter will be performing in the musical interlude of Sunday’s results show.
Who Is Tom Grennan?
Born in Bedford, Tom originally started out wanting to be a professional footballer. He played for Luton Town and even tried for Aston Villa and Northampton Town. So how did he find his way into music? The singer spoke to The Gentlemen’s Journal:
“I was always more into football. It wasn’t until I was at a party, had drunk quite a bit and got forced to sing something that I realised; ‘Oh I’m actually quite good at this’. I enjoyed it, so I taught myself bits on guitar and it kind of just went from there.”
Tom got his first big break after performing intimate gigs in pubs for three years. Luckily for him, a representative of Insanity Records offered him a contract after seeing him at the Finsbury Pub. After releasing an EP, Tom hit the ground running when he featured on Chase & Status’ 2016 single, All Goes Wrong. The track was picked as Annie Mac’s hottest single and was the catalyst for numerous radio and tv appearances soon after.
2018 saw the release of his first studio album, Lighting Matches, which was followed by a UK tour.
Since 2020, Tom’s fame has grown exponentially. He released four singles from his second album, Evering Road. One of which, Little Bit of Love, gained him his first top-ten UK single. It gained 1 million UK chart sales and was Platinum certified by the BPI. In its opening week, Evering Road topped the UK album charts and gained gold certification.
He collaborated with Ella Henderson on Let’s Go Home Together, and By Your Side with DJ Calvin Harris. Both of which reached the UK top ten and got platinum certification. In February of this year, Tom was nominated for two Brit Awards and in the following month released his first single, Remind Me, from his third album.

Following the release of his third album, What Ifs & Maybes, Tom will be embarking on another UK tour beginning in March 2023. He recently posted about it on Instagram, calling it his biggest tour yet.

Tom Will Be Performing On This Week’s Strictly Come Dancing Results Show
After an exciting week at Blackpool, the remaining celebrities all have the final on their mind. After Tyler West and Dianne Buswell last week, Ellie Taylor, Will Mellor, Hamza Yassin and Helen Skelton are still in the competition. Fleur East will be hopeful for another 40 this week after her Destiny Child-themed couple’s choice down went down a treat. Molly Rainford will be hoping to avoid the bottom two this week after having to battle it once again last week.
Tom will be performing in the musical interlude with Joel Corry as they give us a rendition of their new single, Lionheart (Fearless). A version of the single is being used to support England’s team in the World Cup tournament in Qatar.
Unfortunately, Kym Marsh will be missing out on all the fun. The actress will be out of action this week after testing positive for covid earlier in the week. She will automatically go through into week 11.
