After two years of anticipation, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here started back on Monday 9 November. On the Sunday before the series launched, ITV’s The Masked Singer aired a special I’m A Celebrity show. So, who really was under those masks and who came out on top?

Who Were The Ex-Campmates?

The Masked Singer: I’m A Celebrity special saw four ex-campmates get into costumes and vocally battle each other, in the hopes of gaining audience votes to win the competition.

The show, hosted by comedian Joel Dommett, had Kangaroo battle Wichetty Grub, then Cockroach against Koala.

Wichetty Grub

The first person voted out was Wichetty Grub. Judges Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall, Mo Gilligan and Rita Ora guessed that the celebrity was Katie Price, Gemma Collins or even Countdown’s Carol Vorderman.

Once unmasked, it was revealed that the This Morning presenter Alison Hammond was actually Wichetty Grub.

Hammond appeared on the tenth series of I’m A Celebrity and placed tenth.

Cockroach

Cockroach was the next to be voted out after losing to Koala. After hearing all the clues, the judges guessed it could be ex-rugby player James Haskell, singer Peter Andre or radio presenter Roman Kemp.

Davina McCall guessed that it was classical singer Russell Watson and she was correct.

Watson was part of the 2020 cast of the series and came in eighteth place. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the camp was set up in a castle in Wales.

Kangaroo

After the final sing-off, Kangaroo was eliminated. Guesses included former Strictly Come Dancing judge Arlene Phillips, Gogglebox star Scarlet Moffatt and Loose Woman Stacey Soloman.

After a clue that was simply a large leaf, Rita Ora correctly guessed that Kangaroo was pop icon Sinitta. This links to the iconic outfit she wore when at Simon Cowell’s house for the Judges House section of The X Factor.

Sinitta appeared on the eleventh series of I’m A Celebrity and was voted out eleventh.

Koala

Finally, Koala was set to be unmasked. The judges guessed that the person could be Nick Knowles or singer Jake Quickenden. However, no-one actually guessed the winner who turned out to be TV presenter Vernon Kay.

Kay was on the same series of I’m A Celebrity as Russell Watson. Kay ended up coming in third place.
