One of the things that daunted me most at university was wanting to look nice, for my lectures, for nights out, and just for chilling at my student house. As someone who has always had a love for fashion – but never enough funds to afford my favourite looks and pieces – it’s always been something that I have struggled with greatly in terms of self-esteem and confidence. As a student, it’s no secret that struggling for money is the norm. So trying to stock up on some fashion essentials isn’t easy. When it comes to buying clothes, you get what you pay for and quality, although affordable, is often low. ASOS however, provided me as a student with the means to buy amazing and fashionable pieces at a great price, with high quality and quick delivery. Here is why every student should have an ASOS account.
Amazing range of brands for everyone
ASOS is a large online retailer that offers hundreds of different brands and styles, including their own lines which are of high quality and are incredibly fairly priced. ASOS also sells high end brands, so all in all, the online store really does have something for everybody. Their brands include Top Shop (exclusively), Nike, Adidas, Collusion, New Look, Missguided, Stradivarius, Bershka, Pull&Bear, and hundreds of others. They have a large selection of clothing for both men and women, including a lot of unisex styles too, which are always really nice. They have a section for what is trending which is always updated, so you will be left in the loop about the latest fashion trends.
Affordability made just for students
The more I think about it, the more I realise that ASOS was pretty much designed for students. All year round, they offer students 10% off full priced items. Various times a year, they often increase this discount to 20% and, on some occasions, even 25%! These discounts are a great incentive to shop with the online retailer, and discounts can be collected from the Unidays App (if you don’t already have Unidays, download it now for amazing discounts off of hundreds of brands!). As well as offering fantastic discounts off your favourite fits, most of ASOS’ ranges are very affordable, and their sales are huge, so you definitely won’t be left skint after a few new pieces for your wardrobe. Again, thanks to their amazing range, you will definitely be able to find pieces you can both afford and love.
Their unlimited next-day delivery is a winner
ASOS offers unlimited next-day delivery for an annual payment of just £9.99! Their next-day delivery is priced at £7.99, so this is a no brainer. In one year, I saved £400 on delivery charges. That amount seems a lot. But not every delivery was for me, I promise! Anyway, I highly recommend you pay the one-off fee and then you are able to get your orders super speedy, which is great if you spot something you need for tomorrow’s night out or have forgotten someone’s birthday – oops.
They don’t just sell clothes
Speaking of birthdays, ASOS offers a wide range of cool and quirky gifts, such as giftsets, electronics, high end perfume and cosmetics! That’s right, ASOS also sells pretty much every popular brand of make-up, such as MAC, Maybelline, Make-up Revolution, Benefit, Too Faced and many more. These prices are very well matched to other beauty suppliers, so you won’t be spending more than you normally would (don’t forget your 10% discount!). They also stock hair dye, moisturiser, shampoo and pretty much any beauty basic that you need.
Inclusivity
Most of the models features on the ASOS website are very diverse, and as a black woman, this is a great thing to see. While it can be argued that a lot of clothing brands nowadays are far more inclusive than they once were, ASOS has a wide range of models tall and short, plus size to petite, showcasing beautiful men and women of various ethnicities and body types. ASOS is a great place to shop if you feel that you don’t fit into societies norm, and they will make you feel welcome and appreciated!
Sustainability
In this day and age, it is important that the brands and companies we rely on are ethical and sustainable. ASOS has recently made a pledge to achieve four goals by 2030, which are focused on planet and people. They want to work as a business that minimises its effect on the planet and provides positive benefits for people. Their strategy report is available to read and download at asos.com.
