For those asking: Will Fate: The Winx Saga Season 3 be on Netflix, we have some bad news. Despite the show ending season 2 on a cliffhanger, Netflix has decided to cancel Fate: The Winx Saga.
Showrunner Brian Young discussed the show ending on Instagram: ‘This is not fun news to share, but Netflix [has] decided not to move forward with Season 3 of Fate: The Winx Saga.
‘This is especially tough because I know how many of you loved this season. It’s a heartbreaking silver lining, but a silver lining all the same. I’m so proud of everyone who worked on the show, and so happy we got to tell the stories we did. Our cast and crew put in a ton of hard work creating this world and these characters. I’m grateful for each and every one of them, and for all of you for watching. It’s been an amazing four years. Hopefully we’ll see each other again in the future.’

What Is Fate: The Winx Saga About?
The live action series, was based on the Italian cartoon Winx Club, which first aired back in 2004. The story follows a fantasy world where teenage fairies face off against a number of supernatural foes. The live-action version, which first aired in 2021, took a darker approach to the material.
The show had a promising start, debuting on Netflix with a coveted top 10 spot on the most viewed list for English language TV. However, for Netflix, even well-performing shows sometimes don’t make the cut, especially if they have a big budget. And for shows like Fate: The Winx Saga, with its world of monsters, fantasy environments and magic, the effects budget can add up. Plus, wings needed to be added to each character, which is also a pricey feature.
The show also faced a controversy surrounding whitewashing, with the character Musa, who is East Asian in the cartoon, being portrayed by Elisha Applebaum. Fans were disappointed when Flora, who is a Latina character, didn’t show up in the first series, although they incorporated her into the cast for season 2.
Could Fate: The Winx Saga Return?
Is there a possibility that the show will come back? It seems unlikely. There have been cases of shows being cancelled and then picked up by a new streaming service, but those cases are fairly rare. Plus, by the time such a decision was made, it’s likely that the actors would have already aged out of their teenage roles.
However, there is still hope for Winx fans. Plans for a CG-animated reboot of the cartoon as well as a new movie have been confirmed.
