How can 2022 be nearly over already? Hasn’t it just started? Unfortunately not. There are 55 days until the end of the year. Get ready to start writing 2023. However, it’s not quite over, especially for the movie industry which is going to keep us occupied until the very end of the year.
This year has been filled with ups and downs. But the movie industry has kept us occupied only thinking of what’s inside the movie theatres and not outside.
This year has already seen many releases that have kept us fascinated. Who can believe that Top Gun: Maverick was released in May? It feels like aeons away. So much has already been released in the last 10 months but the film industry is not done.
Whether it’d be on Netflix or in theatres there is still so much to come.

Winter 2022 movies in theatres
Marvel has served us well this year. We’ve seen Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Magic, Thor: Love and Thunder, Morbius. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is serving us with one final movie in the form of Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever.
Black Panther 2: Wakanda Forever
After the tragic passing of Chadwick Boseman many people wondered what the future of Black Panther would be. However, through the trailer there is no doubt that Marvel will have honoured his memory. The official synopsis says that the Wakandans, Queen Ramona, Shuru, M’Baku, Okoye fight to protect their kingdom from other world powers as they come to grips with the death of King T’Challa.
The movie will see Letitia Wright returning as Shuri, Angela Bassett as Queen Ramona as well as Danai Gurira as Okoye. Not long to wait until you see Wakanda return to the screen. The film will hit theatres November 11.
Avatar: The Way of Water
The next instalment of the Avatar movies is finally close to hitting theatres. Fans have been waiting for another movie since 2009. The first Avatar movie was ground breaking. It broke all kind of records at the box office and is still one of the highest grossing films of all time.
The first movie used an incredible amount of new technologies and The Way of Water is bound to do the same. James Cameron has never let his viewers down. The Way of Water will feature some incredible underwater scenes with new, groundbreaking technology.
Sam Worthington will return as Jake Sully, the human turned Na’vi that leads the Na’vi to victory against the humans in the first movie. Zoe Saldaña will also return as Neytiri Jake’s mate. Sigourney Weaver will also return to the franchise although as a different character than in the first movie.
Avatar: The Way of Water will explore Jake and his family as they fight an ancient threat. Much excitement surrounds the release of this movie. James Cameron has never let his viewers down and to be their judge of that tune on December 16. Just in time for the Christmas holidays!
The Menu
An exciting horror film that will star some big names like Ralph Fiennes and Anya Taylor-Joy. Whilst most might argue that November 18 is not the best release date for a horror movie because Halloween has passed, The Menu promises to make it worth our while.
The movie follows a young couple Margot (Taylor-Joy) and Tyler (Nicholas Hoult) as they travel to an elite restaurant on a remote island. The chef, played by Ralph Fiennes, has an exciting menu planned for the young couple, but he turns out to be even more unhinged than he was made out to be.
I Wanna Dance with Somebody
No one can go wrong with seeing a biopic movie, especially when it’s about the legendary singer Whitney Houston.
In this up-and-coming biopic, Naomi Ackie is Whitney Houston. It also stars Stanley Tucci Whitney’s record producer. The movie will follow the life of the great singer as she discovers fame and learns to accept it. There is no doubt that we are ecstatic to see how her life will be portrayed. The release is planned for December 30 just in time if you are the person who likes to go to the cinema on New Year’s Eve (and that’s alright)!
Winter 2022 Movies on Netflix and others
The Wonder starring Florence Pugh is certainly one of the movies of the winter. It follows Pugh as Lib Wright, a nurse in 19th Century Ireland, as she travels to a rural village to observe what some men are calling a miracle. A young girl, Anna has gone four months without eating yet she is the picture of health. People flock to the house to have a glimpse of the girl who does not eat.
Florence Pugh delivers a stunning performance as the nurse of this girl called miracle. It will be released in select cinemas on November 2 and will be released on Netflix on November 16.
Another Netflix movie but totally different, Christmas with You is likely to make all our hearts melt. The perfect romantic comedy we can watch snuggled on the couch, follows Angelina, a pop star who escapes New York City to go grant the wish of one of her fans. What she finds is much more than a young fan it is a chance at true love.
Disenchanted
In the much-anticipated sequel to Enchanted, Disenchanted follows Giselle (Amy Adams) ten years after her happily ever after with Robert. However, Giselle is starting to question her happily ever after and turns the lives of everyone including those of Andalasia upside down.
Whilst the sequel will not be released in cinemas you can find it on Disney Plus on November 18. We have no doubt that it will be just as good as the first movie.
Glass Onions: a Knives Out mystery
In the much anticipated the Knives Out movie, detective Benoit Blanc travels to Greece for his latest case and this one is juicy. The movie stars Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc as well as quite a few famous faces.
Madelyn Cline best known for her role in Netflix’s Outer Banks stars as Whiskey alongside Edward Norton as Miles Bron a tech billionaire, Kathryn Hahn, Kate Hudson, Dave Bautista and many more.
